I have just arrived at work to find that the police & dog wardens have been phoning up asking if we have had any dogs brought in over the weekend, as there as been several white vans with foreign number plates touring parks picking up dogs, the areas so far are Nottingham, Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Birmingham, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Leicestershire, Gloucestershire, Northamptonshire, Lincolnshire, Herefordshire, Oxfordshire, Telford & Wrekin. There are 3 men in the vans 2 of the men have been distracting dog owners by asking if they have seen their "dog" they are then giving dog owners leaflets showing a Springer Spaniel with LOST & £500 REWARD & while they talking to the owners the 3rd man is grabbing their dogs off the park. Please keep your eyes out when your dogs are off leads on park & if you are approach call your dogs back & put them back on their leads. If you see a white van hanging around parks with foreign number plates, if possible take photo's with your mobile of the men/van/number plates & inform your local dog wardens & police.
This is why I don't call my dogs by their names when off lead, I use a whistle to recall them, also no name on name tag just mobile numbers plus vets number on one side & I am chipped/tattooed on other side
so scary. my facebook feed is full of lost/stolen dogs at the moment easy one a day is popping up and im not even in any of the lost/stolen dog groups so im sure there are more. The black pug frank is my friends dog, hes been on the news any everything and still no news
This is one of the reasons why I prefer to get a dog that could 'look after itself' - to some degree anyway. Too many nasty people out there! Thanks for posting Tina.
This is sickening isn't it. Jimmi is never let off the lead, but I will certainly alert any doggy people that we meet. Don't forget to be on the look out for chalk markings near your gate too.
Sadly it getting more and more frequent, they seem to travel around the country targeting different areas.
Have added an 'Alert!' category and applied it to this thread - when a member of the mod team thinks a thread warrants being flagged as an Alert we can set it as such
They caught someone from thefts in a different area... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-north-west-wales-26517569
