    Virus Checkers

Has I am not techno clued up I went to my nephew who works in IT as a programmer, he told me which virus checkers are best to have & which are not [did leave me baffled :100: ] but basically he said not all virus checkers will stop virus's from getting on your computer, some virus checkers will allow corrupted files to be open & then will try to quarantine the corrupted files once they have gain access to our computer [told you I got baffled :101: ] but if its a Titan bug or Trojan horse virus then you can kiss your computer goodbye, however if its just a Titan or Trojan virus then these can be removed [I was completely baffled by now :102: ] the Titan bug & Trojan horse virus's are not the same as just a Titan or Trojan virus's [was not by now totally lost :090:]

He went on to say that the internet virus checkers [the one's you can download for free or for a bargain price] offer no protection what so ever & they can be corrupted with either Titan bug or Trojan horse virus's.

Norton & McAfee are not the best type of virus checkers to have, because they have several different one's on the market plus they have to have add on's & not all of them carry the total protection you require, as some of them will allow the corrupted files to be open & then they will try to quarantine the virus once on your computer.

My nephew said the best virus checker to have are the one's that don't have add on's [comes complete with total cover] these will warn you of any suspected corrupted files & will give you the option of ignoring warning or heeding the warning & to send file to the virus checker company.

Am still baffled even now after writing this all down on here, as it seems not all virus checkers prevent virus's coming on to your computers/laptops/tablets/mobiles :024:

We have used Avast and AVG both of which have free versions. I prefer AVG as it is more in the background than Avast. AVG will alert when there is a threat and you can scan files before downloading them with it as well. I am not sure what your nephew thinks of either of these options but Norton and McAfee have not worked for us in the past.

My brother uses Kapernesky and loves it while my mother in law has had viruses leak through. Kapernesky is a paid anitvirus.

You will also need a spyware program and something called "Adaware". I am not sure about the names of these programs that we use but I can ask DH later. Great post!

I have a paid anti-virus ESET NOD32 which Effie renews for me yearly [I then pay him for it]. As he built this, and all previous computers for me, and is responsible for keeping them going, he makes sure they are as safe as possible. I am not sure what anti-spyware he has installed.

He does not think much of Kapersky and would not use it on any of his computers.

I am an AVG and Malwarebyes user at base. I had avast! but it wasn't as good. I also tried Avira, TrendMicro, and Microsoft's one. Didn't like those.

Been told by nephew the following sites are more likely to have either Titan bug or Trogan horse Titan or Trojan virus' s :

Titan bug & or Trojan horse virus' s can't be removed leaving your computer/laptop/tablet/mobile totally useless, these are sites are:
    On line unlicence game sites
Free watch new release cinema film sites
These sites anyone can upload a game they have created or a film they have videod at the cinema.

These sites can or may have Titan & or Trojan virus' s which the virus can be removed by a expert at a cost : unregulated/unregistered free download music sites, unregulated/unregistered free download game sites, unregulated/unregistered free download film sites, unregulated/unregistered free download wallpaper sites.

There are regulated/registered sites that are safe to download music/games/films/wallpaper from, but they do charge you either a annual fee, monthly fee or per download fee

I do not download anything unless Effie says it is OK, and definitely none of those you just mentioned Tina. In fact I fussed about Windows 10 even though he had been Beta testing it for months!

The one thing which is invaluable to me is that he has put a program into my computer so he can get into it by remote control if necessary - but only if I click to agree to it - he cannot just get into it.

ESET NOD32 will refuse to let me into a download program, or even some sites, if it does not like them. I have no idea what it costs - Effie bought a number of them for all his computers, and he pays when it is due - then I pay him for mine when I see him.

My nephew as put black siderweb on my bank account (for when I buy on line stuff) it scrambles the details everytime I buy something, its very strange seeing random symbols like ₩¥% !@:" or radom letters like zyjopls instead of numbers, take today I bought a coat & my bank details was qdsxolj & just half hour later it was (*%÷#!@ everytime I put my bank details in it changes.

I do not do banking online - do not even check my Visa card account online. But what I do do is telephone my bank [or Visa] if I have not had a statement lately [my neighbour will not give me a key to our joint mailbox and tends to just dump my mail on her table] to check everything is OK. I mostly use Paypal if I buy online, if not by Visa, and only from sites that guarantee refund or replacements.
