    Vaccinations

I know that some people do not vaccinate their dogs after the puppy shots. I always have because there are too many un-vaccinated loose and/or dumped dogs around.

That is only a yearly shot but not we have Park Worm in this area and Tikva needs another shot, every three months, against Park worm.

Unfortunately everything has turned up the same time. The yearly booster, the three-monthly Park Worm shot, and her twice yearly Drontal Plus.

I am not prepared to risk Tikva and I know there are too many un-vaccinated and un-wormed dogs around.

So I spoke with Ram this morning - he had only seen Tikva once when Michal and I took her to the surgery to be spayed as she has always come here, and asked if he thought it was OK for her to have everything at one time. His comment was that if he was at all worried he would not agree.

And next week Michal will be here to give Tikva all her shots, convince her to chomble her Drontal Plus - and maybe I can stop worrying for the moment. But she will still need a Park Worm shot every three months. SIGH

Get a dog and your money goes out of the window.

Just thinking. There was no pet insurance when I adopted Pereg - definitely none when I adopted Lexi, my Little One. And if there is now? It would not have paid for Tikva's regular shots. Might have helped had I been able to take it out before Pereg developed epilepsy, but there was no pet insurance then, so it is immaterial.not so it did not.

I think there is now pet insurance but my household insurance company do not have it. I suppose I could try different companies but my insurance one has been mine for over 30 years now, so why mess about with people I do not know and do not know if I trust?

Ram says it is OK for little Tikva to have all her shots at one time. He looked after Pereg well enough until it was time to give her peace, and he knew as well as I did that the time was right.

Little Tikva? Michal has been her primary vet since that shrimp arrived here. They suit each other, love each other. And I know that there is/has been Parvo in town, which is why Michal comes here. I also heard late yesterday about dogs dying of distember on the Moshav.

And people wonder why I spend money on my little girl to have vaccinations?
