For those wanting to learn more: the Alsatian Wolf-dog club was officialy recognised by the KC on 6/8/19, I believe they actualy started to collect names of prospective members in Feb 1918, then on 17/4/19 a booklet with rules of the club and the breed standard was then sent to each prospective member with an invitation to join the club. May 7th 1919 the KC recognised the name of the ''Alsatian Wolf-dog'' Grand Champion Nores v. d. Kriminalpolizei Many of his decendents were white specimens mostly with fleshy noses and light eyes, it is believed that the paling colour in the English lines came down from this line with a lot of the dogs even blk/tan had light nails etc. just a bit of info for you, in the original standard in Germany whites were allowed but only in the long haired Alt Deutche Dogs. Although the original UK standard which was translated from the French standard and supposed to be translated from the German Standard whites were 'debarred' this was possibly because no long-haired Old German Dogs were imported to the UK. A few links so you can see what the Altdeutsche Schaferhund looks like: http://www.from-greatfull-dynasty.de/apps/photoalbum?aid=1849 http://www.hundezucht-vom-boehmerwald.de/frame.htm hope last one goes to right page if not click on the link for that breed has she has 3 breeds, from what she tells me the Altdeutsche can be sharp in temperment.
