I have two young English springer spaniels, that have caused a lot of debates amongst friends and relatives. re their "Pedigree" as they are both so different. One is tall and rangy with short hair and is white all over with a liver head. The other one is short and longer haired mainy liver with a touch of white, and is built diffently ie she is chunky. Can someone clear this up for me. Most people thing that the white tall one is not a true Springer....boo hoo but she is truly beautiful and I have seen picture on the breeding list of other dogs of a similar type.:?
Can we see some pictures? I think I am right in saying that a show springer tends to be taller whereas the working strain tends to be shorter and chunkier.
no, I am just trying to find out how to get pictures on. can you assist....? no she is not a show dog, she is definately a working dog (not as big as a show dog)
I don't know a massive amount about springers but living on a shooting estate I have seen plenty of gamekeepers and beaters dogs. I would say that, as with working bred collies, you get a huge amount of diversity within the working bred dogs. Piccies please
Firstly go to photobucket site, register an account(free). Then follow the instruction sto upload the pictures onto their site. When you have done this you will see an album with different pictures in (yours). As you hover your mouse over a picture you will see some drop down boxes. You need to copy the IMG code which is in the bottom box. This can then be pasted in your posts here where you wish the photo to be. Good luck. This may explain in greater detail. http://www.dogsey.com/showthread.php?t=10395
Are they from the same litter??? there are huge differences in working springers depending where they were bred, i have 4, the largest is twice the size of the littlest. You tend to find the smaller ones up north where if working they are likely to be working heather, gorse and thick cover, and the leggier ones tend to come from breeders where the dogs work a lot of crop cover etc. I have had some truly huge working springers through on foster, but then again i have had some tiny ones through as well
