Notices has gone up all around my local park, saying a "Tree of shame" is going to go up & on this Tree of shame are going to be photos of owners who don't pick after their dogs & owners who leave the bagged up poo on the grass/chucked in hedges, there are dog bins roughly every 200 yards all around the park (CCTV is now on every tree & buildings) also the notice says there will be free dog poo bags attached to the Tree of shame for anyone who as forgotten to bring theirs with them, but what got my attention was the big block caps letters in red saying "anyone who's photo goes up on Tree of Shame will be banned from park for 4 weeks" I asked the park rangers who was going to enforce the ban, he said the council have set up a new dog poo department (forgotten name that he said) I can't help wondering who's bright idea this Tree of shame is & how they think its going tto get owners who sit in their cars picking up after their dogs.
Think it might be Cam watch that will be taking photos off CCTV if anyone don't pick up & handing them over to the council, but I still can't see it working every day. Will have to see what happens on Monday with Lord & Lady Muck not their real names, we call them that because they never pick up after their dogs. Will see if their photos go up as they go park when still dark 6pm & 6am at moment.
I can't understand the ones who take the trouble to bag it and then leave the bag! I would definitely have them pictured on the tree of shame. There's one seat in our country park which has about 10 bags under it - Ugh!
That's what annoys me! I'm always seeing discarded bags, either on the ground or hanging tastefully from trees! I suspect it's people who pick up only because there's someone watching, but who have no intention of carrying the bag home or to the nearest bin.
That's the problem here too Carole & Janet, there are dog poo bins roughly every 200 yards or so all round the park, but owners just leave their bagged poo on grass in hedge & on floor under the dog bins
our local school has done this, kindoff. last year they banned dog walkers from using the school playing field as after years of dog walkers using it happily in school holidays and weekends somebody started to use it that wasnt picking up. The school put signs up saying why dog walkers were banned with a picture (cctv snap shot) of the dog walker and their dog so we could "thank" them. they only left the photo part up for a week, the rest of the sign is still there.
We have no photo's up yet, but no one knows if photo's are going up daily or weekly. On a positive note Lord & Lady Muck have started picking up after their dogs now.
