Is anyone on here involved in terrier racing? I know nothing about it and would like to learn more. :smt001
Hi there. Yes I race my Borders, its great fun! There are two options really, I go "Afghan racing" where you run on a Greyhound track or run them at game fairs and Terrier and Lurcher shows. I see you are in ireland? Im not sure what happens over there, I would imagine Game fairs and terrier shows would be your best bet. You can buy the Countrymans Weekly from big newsagents each week, they have all the details of upcoming shows in there. The Afghan racing season was due to start in Hinckley last week, however the track has been sold and will be solely a greyhound track I believe from now on, so we are stuck! A couple pics for you. she looks fantastic,really looks like she enjoying it,as soon as i have more control over my 2 terrors i want to get them ointo the racing,lil is so quick i would love to see her racing
Dawn! Thank you for your response. For some reason I didn't get any emails to tell me there was any responses to this topic, so I assumed noone had answered. You photos are fab. I'm here in Northern Ireland. I'll keep an eye out for Countryman's weekly, hopefully I'll find some info in it. It looks like great fun. Any hints or advice on doing it?
You wont need hints or tips, just show them the lure and let go! Ill find a video for you of breeze at the Greyhound track, you will HEAR he coming from the start!! Dawn.
Does anyone know where to get terrier racing 'equipment' as I'd love to do it with the poodles! Becky
Ahhh I see. Best thing is just to take them along to a track or terrier show/game fair where they do racing, they will let you have a go no problem, Im sure when they see it they will want to go! I did have an electric lure, but not anymore. Dawn.
