Can you put dog flaps in UPVC doors or do they have to be wood?

we used a staywell medium flap and it suited both our shorty russell and our parson russell.
We installed it in the wall of the conservatory, so its like a little tunnel to run through :)

Are the Staywell ones just a plain flap or do they have a magnetic key i.e. they only open when the dog wearing his collar comes through it? has anyone had any problems with unexpected guests wandering into the house if they are just normal flaps?

    Thanks again for the help

no magnetics involved. Does come with a security guard which slots in over the flap if you ever want to block it off. We use that when we all go out.
We once had a cat come in. Went out again pdq. Never came back.

We have the Staywell one also and have had no unwelcome visitors. It does however lead to a yard with a very high wall. We find it absolutely fine though.

Yeah you would have to question any cat's intelligence that would follow a terrier in through their dog flap!
