Oh I don't know.... It is so long away and I really want my GSD now Missing out! So I just want people to talk about them to me to make me feel better
Well there are loads of GSD fans here on Dogsey to help you with this I love GSDs, especially some of the short haired slightly smaller (European?) lines. I think they have to rank as a breed with one of the cutest puppies too I am looking forward to doing the GSD write-up, but am also a little worried as we have some GSD experts here and I know it will be highly scrutinised You should also check out this thread - I think most of us have fallen in love with him
Thanks Azz! I went through a phase of starting loads of different GSD threads, and felt like starting another today, but couldn't think of a good thread, hence the randomness of this one Ooo I look forward to reading your write up! I have seen that thread and he is totally stunning! I would love a GSD that looked like: http://mypetcare.files.wordpress.com/2008/11/german-shepherd.jpg Got a good couple of years to wait yet though
Havn't decided much yet, all I do know is I am pretty sure I want it from Conbhairean GSD's What do you mean by plans? As in like showing or schutzhund etc? I don't even really know what gender I want, as I "should" get a female as I already have Alfie, but the more I think about it, the more I would love another male!
You don`t have to pay a lot of money for a new best friend... there`s something about a Shepherd that inspires devotion. only one of these came from a breeder - bet you can`t guess which one 1970s 1980s 1990s `00s all rehomes, fosters (failed) and rescues bar one.
Years ago, I remember being in the same boat as you. I was desperate to own a GSD from a very young age (as long as I can remember actually!) but I wasn't allowed a dog until I left home and bought my own home (as I rented for a few years). It became a real obsession (but I am an obsessive type of person ). Anyway, I just spent the intervening years prior to being able to get my GSD researching researching and yet more researching. I bought all the books/dvds (well they were VHS vids back then ) on GSDs I could get my hands on, visited dog shows where GSDs were being exhibited and talked to as many owners as I could, as well as meeting their dogs. Then I did a lot of dreaming They are definitely worth the wait, so spent this time wisely by researching the breed and try to spend some time with owners and their dogs to get a real hands-on feel for them. You could always become a volunteer for GSD Rescue Scotland too ;-) , and help the breed while waiting to get your very own
Sorry kammi but dont like that one its head doesnt look right cant tell if its male/female from the head, ear position not correct and too pale for my liking. If you are up near Heather you wont go wrong there and she can help you chose a pup that meets your lifestyle requirement. Good luck with your search any questions just ask someone will answer, if you want health info on particular lines just pm
C&D - no you are right, I have no idea which one! they are all so lovely! Daisy is one of the prettiest GSD's I have ever seen though I do think for my first GSD I will get a puppy as my first one, as I would love to learn the gsd traits as it grows up, and that Alfie is my first ever dog and he is mini I would love to rescue in the future though! Moobli - that's like me! I love folders... I will end up printing loads off and making up a folder so any good sites with a lot of gsd info on them welcome... I am sure they are most definitely worth the wait, it is just hard knowing that it will only be when I move out! So you all need to keep talking to me about them!! A woman I met in the vets one day (who had a gsd... hence conversation took place ) worked for a gsd rescue, and that must be close if she was at my vets! Wonder where I put the card she gave me... but that's an idea!! wildmoor - that's okay, everyone is different! it was just one of the first images on google I liked the look of I did email Heather a while back and never got any response, but she may well have been busy, so may email her again Thanks for the pm offer
There are some gorgeous looking GSDs round here. They look quite different to the GSDs I'm used to seeing in the UK.
