Just wondering if anyone's tried giving their dogs supplements to help with moulting? Mikos fur has recently started shedding quite abit and its to early for a blow out. Got a feeling it's because of her diet but she's a fussy little so and so. I was thinking of trying lintbells yuMega supplements for skin from pets @ home. Appreciate any advice as always!
Forgot to mention I brush her daily with a wire brush and wipe her down with dog wipes every now and then. There's a lot more fur on the brush these days..
Merry has been dreadful this year, moulting continually since early May. If I groomed out all the loose hair every day, I'm sure she would be bald! I have her on VetVits for seniors, coconut oil, and have recently changed her from omega 3 to evening primrose oil capsules, (she is spayed). Eddie has not lost anything like as much coat. He has the same Senior Vet Vits, coconut oil, and Omega 3. They have the same diet, so perhaps it's her hormones.
Have you tried the wild Alaskan salmon oil you can get it from tractor supply I've heard good things about and I use it . Also where do you live your climate could be the problem
Over the years ive tried various supplements for shedding and I didn’t find any of them worked, gsd’s tend to shed all year round but i do think a lot depends on coat type. Kyra had a finer coat and the top hair shed continually whereas Heiko has a thick/ harsher coat and is not just as bad.
It's only recently she has started shedding so much, She only has to brush past me and I've got Akita fur trousers hopefully they come into fashion soon! Maybe it is because of the climate it's started to feel warmer now, I guess I just need to stock up with lint rollers! I'll try the coconut oil and salmon oil, I've also heard olive oil is quite good. She's lucky we love her so much!
Yea all 3 of those oils work pretty well just go through them and see which one your dog likes best and does best on . Oh don't forget add to food don't rub it onto their fur or skin hahahaha
Tikva, who does not seem to shed at all, has a teaspoon of coconut oil drizzled over her wet meal. Because she likes it! But I do add a skin and coat supplement [as well as various others] as she is raw fed and I want to make sure she has everything she needs. Coconut oil seems to go on all my food as well - I am hooked on it!
Thanks for all of your help! I've started coconut oil because we have tons of it, I also love it on my food, hair, skin wherever lol. Fingers crossed it helps her fur
