...because people don't think about the type of dog they're buying before buying it :? So sad, and they look lovely too.
You can't really ever understand the mind workings of people who do things you could never contemplate doing. But I guess it's because a lot of people 'buy' dogs for the way they look and don't do any research at all on what might be involved in keeping one. We have a big stray dog problem here in Cyprus but there are also dogs out on the street all day and night who are wearing collars and tags and some even dressed in nice little coats and jumpers. I just don't 'get' how someone could care about their dog enough to dress it against the cold and then kick it out on the street? We were accompanied by one on our walk this morning. He followed us closely and was a friendly thing and walked about 2 miles with us to quite a long way from where we bumped into him. He then came all the way back to my place with us. I just felt awful closing the door on him - yet his owner does that every day?
OMG What beautiful dogs! I think that unfortunately it is their stunning looks that can attract the wrong sort of owner for dogs such as this, without their needs ever being looked into, until it is too late. I am not saying this has happened in this case, but sadly it seems to happen far too often. They are a real pair of stunners and I hope they find an experienced and suitable home really soon. (I wish I could have them though ... )
We had a classic experience this weekend. Mum phoned us because she wants a husky for her teenage son who, according to her is "totally in love with the breed and knows everything about them!" After having several telephone conversations with mum, we invited them round on Sunday to meet our pack and see what it is like to actually live with Sibes. So, we were expecting Mum, Dad, Son and Daughter to turn up. The door went - there were mum and daughter. The son, who the dog was ostensibly for, and dad, apparently couldn't be bothered to come. They came in and one of our rescue girls Mia went up to the daughter to sniff her trainers. The girl freaked and ran out of the door, spending the next half hour while we spoke to her mum standing in the garden. According to the mum she is frightened of dogs!!!!!!!!!! We spent the next half hour explaining to the mum why she would not get either a puppy from us when we next bred, or a rescue dog from a reputable rescue. Did she actually listen? or will the next time we hear from her be when she needs to rehome the poor quality puppy she gets from a puppy farmer or backyard breeder? I despair Mick
Desperately running through my reasons why I can't have these boys... Breeze would be a perfect match to Kismet and Pongo is just a stunner and would look a treat out in front... What a beautiful team they would make.
