Personally I am not too bothered by colours, so long as they retain the look of a breed. Health is more important imo.
Of course health is more important - I think the KC and/orthe breed clubs, are more concerned about people paying way over the normal price for a "special colour".
I think it's wrong if breeders are deliberately trying to breed unusual colours just so they can charge more. Apart from that, I don't think any colour should be considered 'undesirable' - I am old enough to remember white GSD and Boxers being destroyed at birth. And, of course, the Kennel Club does not approve of or recognize parti-coloured poodles, but, being a bit of a rebel, I got one anyway!
Unfortunately BYB & puppy farmers don't give 2 hoots what the KC says, if they have none KC spec colour they will advertise them as unique rare colour & charge the earth for the puppy.
I am against breeders who breed for specific unusual colours, they are not breeding to improve the breed, only to line their pockets. You will not find a good/reputable breeder using (Blues, Whites, Livers or Panda coloured dogs in their breeding program.

If you can find one you'll have to pay OTT because of the rarity value.

Sounds interesting! Of course, parti coloured poodles have been around for hundreds of years - there are numerous old paintings of them alongside the solid colours. But then for some reason, when a standard was drawn up, it was decided that only solid colours would be acceptable.
Sadly if they don't sell they will get either dumped by side of road/parks, chucked in rivers or thrown out of moving vehicles.
