    Strange behavior

we went to an outdoor restaurant near a horse farm today, and Piccolo acted very strangely. His tail was down and he acted frantic, wanting to jump up on my lap. During the whole meal he acted nervously, as if something scared him. I took him for a short walk and he was straining at the leash, wanting to go away. He became calm only when we left in the car. I think he must have smelled some other animal, a fox or something bigger. Any ideas?

If he's never encountered horses before or the scent of horses, then, I agree, it was most likely this that scared him

Were there woods in the area? Maybe he caught the scent of some kind of wild animal.

Yes, there are woods, but about 500 yards away. Funny thing is that there were other guests with small dogs, and they were normal.

Never happened before. He was trembling, agitated, kept wanting to come up on my lap. Normally, he is a little warrior...
