Now anyone who reads my posts knows how much I love both of my pups. But you also know from reading my posts that Sophie has her ahem...issues. Oy so very many issues...the panic attacks, the obsessive licking, the paws trying to dig under the bathroom door, the refusing to eat more often than she actually does...My sweet graying basket case...our problem children are the special ones.

Last night it was time to clean the rat cage. The cage has three levels with wire sides so It's not easily carried. So logically I barricaded the door to my daughter's room and began the process of catching rats, putting them in a cat carrier, wiping down shelves and dumping the old litter. To do a good job takes an hour, not so perfect a half hour.

Sophie between her prey drive and jealousy would like nothing better than to catch those critters who look like squirrels minus the furry tail...The cage is about five feet above where she can reach. But no way can she be in the room if they're out of their cage. She'd probably maul the cat carrier...anyways.
So the cage is finally clean, the rats back in it and fed. I get all the cleaning stuff and garbage downstairs. Now it's time for bed. Someone peed all over my side of the bed...I know the smell difference between dog and cat urine. Apparently somebody had a temper tantrum when Mommy ignored her whining. Next time all bedroom doors will be secured. Now I have to wash everything from comforter to mattress. You know what I'll be doing the rest of the night...dumb dog.

yes poop is definitely easier, we have a feather bed cover and I don't know how I'm going to dry it yet...back to the washer, I was up at 5am, better things to do than strip this bed

One day last week I dared to take the phone in the bedroom. After much whining and scratching and howling at the door all six decided the best thing to do was take turns peeing all over the living room. Poor Johnny finally had to ask me to come out of the bedroom because he was running out of paper towels trying to keep up with it. They were soooo glad to see me and I wanted to throttle every one of them. I think all mine are problem children.

Luckily, its not a problem I have with either of my dogs. Georgina like most Pei is ultra particular where she goes to toilet and would rather bust a gut than make a mess in the house. I do remember though the day I brought Gwylim home, the first thing he did was walk into my bedroom and cock his leg and pee on the chest of drawers! He's so funny because he follows Georgina and will stand behind her with his nose as close to her bum as possible whilst she has a pee and as soon as she's finished, he'll cock his leg and pee on the same spot. :(:(

Pereg used to do that when Little One was having a poo but that was because she liked it fresh and warm.

Never had any of my dogs toileting in house.
Only problem I got is having 5 mins peace away from them, as all my doors are sliding doors & quick push with nose/paw & they have doors open.

I'm lucky on this one, Mouse will dang near beat the door down before peeing in the house.
Has happened once this winter when someone locked the dog door by mistake and we where both gone. He left a mini-lake by the dog door.
If we are home and someone locks it, he will headbutt it until someone comes.

My two would have to be really ill before they soiled the house. Tweed did drip when she had heart failure, and the vet gave her Frusemide or Prednisolone, but she never puddled. We have lever door handles, and Eddie is rather inclined to let himself out for a wee. He hasn't learned to close doors when he comes in though. Tweed would just hang on, and on - if she had to.

You all are lucky...not the first time Sophie has made a statement. If she can get in the bedroom and I walk Callie BEFORE her, same thing...relieve myself on Mommy's side of the bed. She knows exactly what she's doing. Then again she pees her own bed too sometimes gofigya...no physical problems with her.

De Dawg does lose bladder and sometimes bowel control during a GM and if it is at night... which is why in the winter I have a spare duvet out... you just get on with it. I mean it is not her fault, is it.

But it is when she expresses her anal glands that I wish I could move to a different house.

I always get Pereg's checked when I take her for her six-monthly check up and blood test. She is too strong for me to do but I used to be able to do my Griffons. But as she is raw fed her anal glands are usually empty... except for that occasional time :078:
