ok, so Kia comes to my mum Monday :mini: :mini: :mini: As we are mainly experienced in GSDs, just wondered what they are like ie do they like lots of excercise? are they fussy eaters? and anything you might know that would help. Not that we are not dog experienced as we are just wanted to know the breed a bit more I know we can read books but time is against us and I know several of you have them :mini: To say I am excited is an understatement I have always wanted one so this is great that my mum is getting one. Hi - my teenage years were spent with a Rottie bitch and GSD. Cassie, our Rottie, was the softest, sweetest dog you could imagine. So full of fun and incredibly affectionate and, of course, absolutely beautiful to look at too. She would eat anything you gave her, not fussy at all, but did need lots of exercise, say, two good runs a day and stimulation in between. I could almost say she was the perfect dog, sociable with other dogs, loved humans, great with kids but protective when she needed to be. Have fun!
having had gsds and now having rotties, I would say they are very diff breeds, I find rotties more laid back, less hyper, but that has made training them a challenge, they dont have as high a drive as some GSDs. Though when you find the right buttons they do train very well. my lot are not fussy where food is concerned, though if they dont like something they really dont like it. my lot will take as much exercise as you throw at them, but they dont play up if they dont get much, im sure your gona love them, they are addictive though.
thanks, the reason I ask about excercise is because mum usually takes them for quite a big walk and I didn't want to risk hip probs etc. Kia is 2/3 years old and apparently exceptionally well behaved but I am sure my Zeita will try and undo some of that lol
If your Mum's rotti is half as nice as Shona's she'lll have a wonderful dog. I might just disagree with one tiny wee bit though re not being fussy on food..well they probably aren't on food, but they are where treats are concerned....they spit out the dog biscuits I often use for mine - only fresh meat is good enough to work for But I have to confess to being slightly jealous of your mum - since meeting Shona's rottis, I am completely smitten
