First an apology for not posting this sooner, it has been lying around unnoticed for a few weeks. In his Dog World column of 23.01.15, Andrew Brace reported on the Rome International Dog Show, which was held on the 20th. December 2014. I have used the official photo here, but Andrew's photo's are beautiful, and well worth looking for if you are able to find a copy. As you can see the BIS winner, under German judge Hassi Assenmacher-Feyel, was a short legged Champion JRT bitch, which Andrew Brace had selected as his Terrier Group winner. This win has set me thinking. Assuming that they wanted to do so, would this bitch be allowed to compete in the UK, like other European Champions? It would certainly not be eligible for a Parson Jack Russell class, nor I suspect, would it be eligible for an AV Import Register class. I remember that we had a thread about KC Reg. JRT's a while ago. Perhaps the day is starting to move closer.
Answer to your question yes, she will be able to complete against Parson Russell Terrier in all KC dog shows in England Not sure if she be legible to enter Crufts this year ?
I cant see how it could compete here, the UK does not recognize the JRT as a breed, obviously it is a recognized breed under the FCI so is allowed to compete in Europe, Not sure about the Av import register either......taken from the KC website, So I think that`s pretty clear, they would not be eligible to compete .
No, on two counts, the "import register" and missing the entry date. I have looked around and cant find it anywhere that a jrt will be able to compete against another breed, how are you going to judge them? The JRT (the type in the pic) is short legged of stocky build, the Parsons is a taller , finer dog... so how on earth can you put lets say this dog in a class with Parsons, and expect a judge to judge it, which breed standard are they going to go by, ?
So basically that answers my question, the RJT as it is now, will be required to change its name to the PRT , and be judged accordingly to the Parsons breed standard... with a few minor adjustments! So we will NOT see JRT classes at KC level shows, but the JRT will have to conform to the Parsons breed standard.
Well spotted Vee. May 2002, things are moving incredibly slowly though, aren't they? It is so complex - an Australian origin, for what most people would consider a native breed? Mind you, the Australian Shepherd is an American creation! I think she is very cute all the same, and I'm sure the public would love them! @Azz, @Bulldogs4Life Yes, it was a Bracco in the third spot.
