    SBT heights & weights?

Im interested in the stats the SBT owners have on here.
It seems the average SBT is taller than the breed standard.
I know the 2 I have here are, also reading through the back posts some of the weights mentioned seemed a lot, maybe error or maybe the standard again is low? The 2 here are around about standard (a tiny bit over) but at 16mnths and 8mnths they will creep up.

    Breed standard:
    Height:
    Dogs 14-16 inches (36-41cm)
    Bitches 13-15 inches (33-38cm)

    Weight:
    Dogs 25-38 pounds (11-17kg)
    Bitches 23-35 pounds (10-16kg)

    So,
How tall is your staffy to the shoulder?
    How heavy is your staffy?
Prob best to inc the age etc, ty
pics always a good idea :D

    Side Q:
when did your SBT stop growing (height)?
when did your SBT fill out?

I know all dogs are different and not breed standard etc, Im really after real world figures and the standard is useful as a gauge for me :D

    Hi Callum,
To me it's not about Height & weight it's about having a balanced dog.
Height is always a grey area with Staffords,it's not set in stone the breed standard says desired height ;-)

Our Tyler is 17 inches & 39lb,he stopped growing height wise at around 12 months,he's still maturing & I think he will be finished by the time he is around two years old.
    At 18 months

Meg is 15 1/2 inches - not sure about her weight, but we do have to watch it as she gains very quickly.
Again she is sill maturing but stopped growing height wise at around 11/12 months old.
    At 17 months,

Where did you get the height from for bitches, because it's the same for both dogs & bitches 14-16 inches.

It also varies with bloodlines, some dogs mature alot quicker than others.;-)

China is just right as a dinky sbt I think :D

I guess I should have named a source for the standard but its just been the one that I have read repeatedly on SBT web pages etc. maybe my mistake.

Totally agree on the balance being the key to the SBT, we all have our preferences on looks I guess.
I dont and have never shown so the breed standard as it were is to me a guide only, my perception was that the variable height of any sbt was to be judged according to build. but within the standard parameters.

I have seen mention of the judges not following the height standard tho or a lot of showing sbt's would be out of the show?

If this is the case, and im not aiming to open a revamp the breed standard discussion (ive seen the posts) just curious as to the "real" ave height/weights. Then is the standard not realistic for todays sbt?

The true balance of an SBT is gonna be something that shows after 3yrs old in some cases then?
I know there are differing growths and builds, bloodlines to consider.

Tyler and Meg are both stunning also, your vlucky.

I'll take accurate measurements later and post. ;-)

We aim to breed to the standard, but of course you will always get the exception/throw back, regarding height as long as the weight corresponds and the dog is balanced I personally don't see a problem ;-)

There are alot of todays show Staffords over the desired height, one recent one was 17 inches, his name CH Knockon Dance With The Divil JW,oh and a lovely dog, balanced everything about him was there. He has produced some good dogs too.

The breed standard is always open to interpretation so I guess it depends on the Judge.

A stafford I would say is fully mature between the ages of 2-3 years.

Thanks for the comments about my two  Meg is heavy show line bred, well known lines Crashkon & Valglo - these lines tend to mature quickly.
Tyler is show bred but not as heavy as Meg,he comes from Sharoc lines.

Not sure how tall Tonks is as she is too wriggley, but she is 8 kilos now!

Oh and she is only 13 weeks old....think she will be quiet leggy when full grown.

Diesel is 14 months and stands at 16.5 inches and weighs in at 42 pounds. I would say he stopped growing height wise at about 10months and has been filling out ever since, but not an ounce of fat to be seen.
    These were taken today
