Sable Border Collies? Questions

I have a sable Border Collie who I got from a rescue, but haven't seen many around of this colour.

Does anyone know if there are any breeders who breed this colour?
(obviously I would like a healthy dog and not just the colour)

I know of someone breeding their sable bitch this winter.

My dad keeps telling me we should have bred from our girl, she would have been a great mum as well, basically raised my other dog as his mother wasn't interested in the pups.

Yes thats My Flynns Daddy! Flynn is offically a B&W but hes quite red in Some ways!!!!

So how would you breed a sable then? Do you need 2 copies of the sable (it's recessive it's it?) to get a sable litter?

dunno, i think its odd & not fully understood, & not like reds which is rescessive. It can also Mask merle so you have to be careful!!!!!

The sable gene is the A gene & this bitch is a young sable & the site will show you her colour genetics-you do have to be a member though(it's free ;-) ) if you want to do the search for other sables
