Reputable breeder for Irish Staff pups?

Hi everybody, new to this site, i have just lost all 3 of my dogs last week, and am so empty i cant get used to living without a dog, my house no longer feels like a home!
I had a rescue 18 month staffx irish staff, she was wonderful in every way, perfect with my kids, tradically she Nipped a mother at school the other day ( who unbeknown to me at the time has been in pub all afternoon!) she bent down and she bit her lip needing 1 stitch! She caused such a scene, anyway i was told i would have to muzzel her in public places, i refused to walk round with her like this she was not aggressive at all, her only form of defense was to snap ansd say out of my space! sHE HAD BEEN BEATEN AS A PUP AND POSSIBLY BY A DRUNK, HENCE SHE FELT THREATENED!Anyway i was told 1 more bite i would get aban on keeping dogs for life! So i had her put to sleep and feel very cheated by it all! I also had 2 labs 15 yrs there back ends had gone, bilnd, deaf so thought it would be kinder to have them all put to sleep together. So here i am, i would like a pup so i dont inherit any past problems, and so it will grow up with my children!
Searched all the google stuff and can't find any up to date pups, i would consider staff x anybody have any contacts for me? i am in blackpool. lancs, Thankyou for reading .sara

Why would you be banded from keeping dogs for life. Please explain, it it only happened last week it would not have gone to court yet. Think I am missunderstanding your post so please start again as I can't make it hang together.

Why would you choose to have your dog PTS rather than muzzle it? :?

The dog is put on the dangerous dog register, if it does bite again the police said i would face then a ban for life on keeping dogs,I could not risk this or feel it was fairto keep my dog muzzled all the time, as she was not an aggressive dog, the vet said she has probably acted out of fear or felt threatened by this person, and it was a tradgic accident really.

Your dog wouldn't be muzzled all the time just when out, can't see this as a big deal myself I see pleanty of muzzled dogs that are quite happy.

I was under the impression that an Irish Staff was the name dog fighting people give to pitbulls?

Did not think there was such a thing now as a dangerous dog register, surely that stopped some long time ago. Or am I still confused.

    Just found this on http://www.hambleton.gov.uk/services/list.htm?mode=8&pk_services=366

IMO it's not cruel to muzzle a dog for it's own safety, but that's a moot point now as you already had your dog PTS.

But, if you don't want the same situation happening again, it might be best to go for a breed that can't be classed as being 'of type' - that would include any type of staffy or staffy cross.

You've had a really horrible experience having 3 dogs PTS all at once, maybe it would be best to wait a while efore you get another dog?

Thankyou for your response sarah 27, there we other circumstances to this as in
she bit outside the school gates, whilst it was the lip and soft flesh skin it looked much worse than what it was, due to the woman been in toxicated, she was screaming how frightened she was of this aggressive dog!!
The ambulance driver refused to get out until police back up arrived due to the erractic phone call she made, all this infront of 30 parents, meanwhile my dog just sat quietly by my side, waiting for my 6yr old!
To add to this my husband is in a higher police rank in this area, Which would always cause TALK amongst people with me walking a muzzled "dANGEROUS dOG!" aND PARENTS WHO WITNESSED THIS THAT ARENT DOG LOVERS WOULD NOT BE SO EMPATHETIC, PUTTING THIS ASIDE MY HEARTBROKEN DAUGHTER HAD THE "VICTIMS" KIDS SAYING THEY WERE GLAD HER DOG WAS DEAD! SO CRUEL.
"IF" is a strange word, if only i hadn't taken her to school. if only the woman may have been calmer and said i should,nt have put my arms round her and in her face, ive had a few drinks!
If only i had truely have known what she had been through as i pup that made her fear Bin Men and feel threatened by this person.
All i can say is i do regret the circumstances, if this hadn't have happened so public, i had no kids or a police officer as a hubby we would still be together, i couldn't risk a nip like that to a childs face even though she adored kids the public would have a field day with the story! More bad press for a loving breed, that was abused as a pup.
I feel so empty loosing all 3 dogs as they were my life but feel i need to get another dog for our home now or when the right one comes along. But i will get a pup, so i can socialise and train it with no fears or anxiety. thanks.

    .
It would not include a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, as they ar not a type but a pedigree... and if bought from a reputable breeder will have papers to prove so.

I dont understand after having your Irish Staff (Pit bull) PTS , simply because it would need to wear a muzzle in public, you would choose to go looking down the same road to buy another illegal dog, possibly setting your self up for another confrontation with the law.

I'm sorry you've lost all three of your dogs but this was your choice. I can understand putting down your old dogs if the vet advised that their quality of life was compromised but you chose to put down a healthy dog rather than have it muzzled. I feel that you probably acted under pressure and worry but even so this was still your choice. I agree with the others here. If you want another dog then may I suggest that you do extensive research before maybe putting yourself in another situation that calls for even more tragic loss of life.

I was just going to pick up on that point,Irish staffords are a breed type, not recognised by any offical registration body.
Staffords bred properly to the breed standard are not type, although they are at risk and a few KC Reg ones were seized.Any dog that fits the description purely by looks is classed as type by some police officers.

My personal opinion is it is dangerous to buy a SBT without paperwork and it is dangerous to buy an "Irish" in the current climate regarding the DDA.

Can I ask the op what is wrong with an SBT?

She was a 80% staff taller, And the bull terrier breeds are wonderful as a family pet, providing they are educated and balanced unfourtanatley she was rescue of which i realise now i had no say in her past, so the agression she showed was fear only! But a bit of a loaded gun if she is scared she snaps!
She was not an illegal dog nor are irish staffs, but i asked if there were any reputable breeders, as they are not kc recognised and i dont want to buy a dog with fighting in their bloodline, there are decent people who own these breeds and sell them. You need to see both parents, i am not set on one breed, i love all the bull terrier breeds, which the staff is recognised by the kennel club as a good family dog. Oh i read somewhere today on the internet you are 5 times more likely to get bitten off a dalmation than a staffy! Not sure where these statisics came from, but its not just bull terriers that bite!

Sorry but I thought you said the dog was a Staff X Irish Staff.

If you like the SBT temperament best to buy a SBT from a reputable breeder.

    I really feel for you.

I feel you did what you thought was right at the time - it's all any of us can do.

I hope you find a new pup soon to take some of the heartache away x

I couldn't imagine having 3 dogs one minutes, and none the next, your kids must miss them terribly, let alone yourself. I'm so sorry this all ended so badly for you.

From reading all yours and everybody else's posts, I know you like the staffie breed/mixes, but because of what happened previously outside the school with that awful drunk woman, plus the fact your husband is a police officer, why don't you go totally the other way, and just go down the rescue centre and see what companions they have that are young and good with children? That way you'd be saving yourself any bad talk going on around you when you take it with you to school? That's what I'd do anyway, and I'm one of those "why buy a puppy when you can rescue a homeless dog" types!;-) Good luck, I'm sure you'll find something suitable and much quicker than searching for a good breeder, waiting for a litter, etc. etc. just go out tomorrow and fill that empty space at home.:)

Westfieldavenue, I was just wondering - I don't want to dredge up painful memories for you, and I'm not being mean or nasty - was your rescue dog from the Dog's Trust?

I'm only asking because usually a rescue organization will take the dog back if there is any problem whatsoever. My dog is from Dog's Trust and they told us that if anything happened wheere we couldn't keep him we were to give him back direct to them (we signed a contract to this effect).

I'm really sorry for you and your family (especially your daughter if she's getting hassle at school because of it. Kids can be really cruel).

Horrible to loose three dogs in one day. Maybe after what has happened with this dog and it all happening so publically, you should give yourself a bit of a break and consider a non bull breed. People are very quick to point the finger and getting another bull breed so close to this happening i fear people may not be very forgiving. It is stupid, but people seem to be far more forgiving to fluffy blond dogs.
