Hai, from the macolet, contacted the rat man from the Moatzar [Local authority] so the rat man turned up. I am not over bothered about mice but yes, I have rats, and even though the mice are harmless, the rats are not And from one rat the other week, I have rats knocking down everything in my kitchen, So the rats HAVE to go, and the rat men put poison down here, there and everywhere, but said the rats would go out to die and not to worry about Tikva. She is only in the salon, which is rat free or having a zong on my bed, and yes there are rats knocking things over on my dressing table. Three bottles of stuff of flavoured oilive oil and whatever - smashed on the floor. A bottle of 250 tablets of Stevia knocked down - never could find the bottle but 250 tablets all over the floor. No problem, they could be swepped up and binned, but the glass bottles of oil took days to clear up. So Hai turned up with the rat man, who put I-do-not-want-to-know "stuff' down. Said Tikva could not get near it and the rats, and yes, I have RATS, would eat it and go out from whence they came [wherever?] blah blah blah. This morning my kitchen floor was covered with things that had been knocked down, including a large glass candle, the glass smashed over the floor but the candle missing, and I still cannot find four small containers that have gone AWOL. But I feel guilty as the sticky things have caught another two tiny mice - but the RATS are still here. Oh, and Tikva loose from her tether? Hai was here. The Rat man was here, and Tikva was getting rather excited tripping people up, so I unclipped her tether even though the door was open, and the little madam calmed down and just left everyone alone, ignoring the fact that the door was open.
So much damage! At least you should be free from the rats soon, - though it may take more than one treatment. It is good that Tikva stayed close, Merry would have been rabbit poo eating in the nearest field - her one major fault!
That's great news not that you got rats but that someone as put poison down for you, when we had wild rats [yes 3 cats & 9 dogs we still had wild rats] they took the poison to their den [nest] & they died in their den [nest] within 4 days of the poison being put down we saw no more rats, the pest control man [council pest control] came back after 7 days & removed all the dead rats from their den [nest] We were told that our wild rats had come from a broken sewer drain pipe & the water board had disturbed the rats when they fixed the sewer pipe, causing them to invade a empty house down the road from where we live. this is where their den [nest] was & the council pest control man put extra rat poison down in that house, after he had removed the dead rats just in case another family of rats moved in.
The rats must go - I just have to keep Tikva away from where he has put the stuff; or from where they came, and I have no idea where he put the stuff. The problem is in the kitchen and Tikki only goes in there for her evening meal and I stay in there while she eats. The rest of the time she is in the salon, which has a gate through to the rest of the bungalow, or if I open it she can go through to my bedroom. Yes, there must be rats there as things get knocked off the dressing table. But she is either on the bed having a nap with me, or when is Pee, Bikkie and Bed time she is in her crate. The good thing is that she does not go walkabout when the door is open. Tikva is far from perfect but if the door is open and I am in - or anyone here, she ignores the fact that she is unclipped from her tether. She does not even think about going walkabout. I love that little puppy so much.
Tikva is actually protecting you when other people is in your home, that is why she's not bothered that the door is open
Tikva does not really care.. If people are in the house and she is happy with them, she just ignores the fact that the door is open. She just follows whoever is here, and sits and watches. But no way does she try to go out of the door. She is a very strange little puppy.
Rats still around as more things knocked down in the kitchen, including a large circular cutting board. Mice are too small to knock even the smallest thing down and in any case two poor ickle meeces got cotched in the sticky traps last night. Yet more oil cleaning up but luckily I have a large container of cat litter which should soak most of it up, but I cannot cope with having to do this every day. But I have nowhere else to store things, and why after 16 years all of a sudden I have rats?
Could there be a different animal (not sure what animals you have over there like raccoons) that's getting in/out of your house at night, as rats & mice wont stay in same place as each other.
Tina, this is the third bungalow I have lived in on the Moshav. Two years first half bungalow, three years second half one, [landlord blocked half off hence two tiny bungalows out of one] and I have been in this larger, detached bungalow since 22 November 2000. Mice in all of them but this is the first time I have ever had rats, and only for the last couple of weeks. And yes, they are definitely rats If there is a gap anywhere that you can put a pencil through, a mouse can get through. A rat cannot but two of the screens have holes in them, and we think that the rats have bitten through the screens - but - the trissim [shutters] are closed all the time to keep out the heat so how did they get through the trissim to then bite through the screens? It is a very old bungalow and possibly there are holes behind the sink unit or - or - or who knows? According to this guy Hai brought in, a lot of people have rats at the moment. And everyone has mice but that I knew. I do not like the sticky pads but they get the mice although they have only cotched three rats.
