I've just seen an ad for a 9 month old chihuahua stating that he is 'very rare colour brindle' I'm not posting the entire ad here for a reason but I don't like it, it looks fishy and would like something to throw back at him so my question is: Are they really 'very rare'? Are they seen as a fault at all? He's trying to sell this dog stating 'could be good stud dog very keen' despite the fact it's not KC...
We were after a chihuahua before we got Minnie and there are lots of scams/cons surrounding them that we became aware of. Alot of breeders post ads saying that they have rare and tea cup sized puppies. Its all just to try and get potential buyers to pay over the odds for what is already an expensive puppy. Id ask them why the colour is so rare and see what tosh they come up with!
Thanks So brindles aren't rare? but more like they are produced by a recessive gene so aren't as common as other colours? The ad also said that being brindle, he should throw any colour if he was studded out, is this true?
To be honest i dont really know. I did a google search and found a lot of people claiming they have a "rare" brindle puppy for sale so im guessing it isnt such a rare colour after all? Edited to say ive just found this...... Chihuahua colors can get complicated due to the vast number of possibilities. Examples would be a Blue Brindle or a Chocolate and Tan. Colors and patterns can combine and affect each other for an almost infinite rainbow of possibilities. That said, the classic Chihuahua color remains Fawn. No color or pattern is considered rare or more valuable than the others, it is all just a matter of personal preference.
