not all sleddogs need to be huskies Icey the border collie loved it. collies got more excited at start than the huskies And chenka the collie-x bred, my leader in the team, brilliant, obedient girl. Happy, satisfied girls.
Love the second one of Icey - SHE (sorry) looks so happy - what a lovely smiley face . How's she doing at the moment, Rose?
they pick it up really quickly mishflynn, can't run icey now though as too old & has a heart murmer so to try & slow down a bit, not easy with a lively collie though. Poor icey gets excited even now when i hook up the 2 huskies i run. she gets to meet them on the way back to van though.
Fab pics, Ice really loved it you can tell. I have seen pics of RR pulling rigs/sled and would love to give Beau a go when he is older and calmer!!
About four years ago there was a woman who came along to rallies to learn how to train her collies to run in harness. She had a great time and so did the dogs. She then to my knowledge went on to run a six dog collie team and I'm sure we saw her at ABSA. Two friends of ours run their collie 'Bob ' at training with their sibes. They say he's the best lead dog they've got. Have also seen a two dog Akita team at ABSA rallies and one with a GSD on just to list a couple of non husky breeds that love to run in harness...love seeing them. Jan.
