Old photo's and Painting tht speak volumes

Aint seen this done before and was looking at old dog artwork today, so thought I would asked, what old photo's or paintings have you see that just speak to you and why?
    Here is just a couple.

Of course the first to are of Mastiffs.

Don't think anyone can look at this and not see the love the artist captured in the dogs eyes.

    Sgt. Stubby
    America's First War Dog:
In 1917 a Pit Bull named Sgt. Stubby gained war hero recognition by saving several soldiers lives and capturing a German Spy while in the trenches of France with the 102d Infantry, which was a sub-division of the 26th Yankee Division. Stubby earned several medals during World War I, was honored at the White House, and inspired the formation of the K9 Corps!

Oh and someone must have forgot to tell Helen Keller she had a killer on her hands.

I love some of our old breeds - they look so much fitter and healthier :)

Sergeant Stubby was not a Pit Bull, he was a Boston Terrier type or mix (possibly with bull breed).

Yeah I always thought he was a Boston Bull. He might have some of the same blood but he wasn't exactly a PBT. He looks Boston. Why do people claim Pit?

I've seen some Pits with similar look but who knows what was inter bred to get the shorter legs and muzzle.

This was also 1917 so it's not as if people didn't have any "hate" for the breed less than a century ago.
