Could someone, in the know please help me with a query. As I said on a previous post I have never heard, until a few weeks ago, of a Northern Inuit ( I have just come back from Canada after 20 years). So I have been doing a little reserch on the internet, as I can find no books available and have now got totally confused :? I read on one site that the Northern Inuit has been bred from a German Shepherd, Husky and Malimute but then another stated that they are wolf-hybrids - even more confused!:? Then I found on another site that a breeder was been condemned for crossing a Northern Inuit with a Husky to bring in new blood ,and the complainant was stating this was now a crossbreed. Does this mean that all Northern Inuits are crossbreds because they have originated from 3 different breeds? Is this a 'designer dog' bred to look nice but do nothing? When I first saw them I was on holiday in Ireland and saw a young lady with two. I thought they looked very nice and been use to sled dogs they took my eye. Reading through the different sites and the variety of dogs, some claim they are bred from, I would have thought these would be classed as 'working dogs' yet the young lady showed her older bitch in utility. I am totally confused and I hope by asking these questions I am not offending anyone. But I was always taught if you don't know ask. Could some one in the know please clear this up for me. Thank You Olive
Which show was it you went to in Ireland? We regularly show our northern inuit dogs here in Ireland and may have been there.
NI is not a Kennel Club recognised breed in the UK. Many arguments and discussions have been held here, maybe you could look back over old threads? They used to be advertised as *Wolf look alikes* and I think that maybe answers one of your questions
