Great article! Thanks for posting :)

On another forum I was made to feel incredibly guilty for wanting to buy a purebred puppy. I actually got a lot of rude, sarcastic responses and I soon left. While I greatly admire everyone involved in rescue, sometimes the minority can be incredibly pushy and the way they advocate rescue does nothing to help them in the long term, because people like myself would just rather run for the hills!

None of mine did either and although I've had a few rehomes I've never had a rescue dog I just took them on before they ended up in rescue. Horses for courses I don't see what the fuss is about

    Great article and very true.
if a person decides they want a particular breed of a certain sex/ age they shouldn't be criticised for going to a reputable breeder The problem is based around an oversupply of so called designer dogs, from Puppy Farms & BYB,

It wouldn't matter if everyone stopped buying dogs those who shouldn't be breeding would continue to do so, just as those who shouldn't be owners will still acquire dogs on an impulse and then dump it when they tire of it. There are never any negative consequences to those people, because there is always someone else willing to clean up the mess

They lost my sympathy when they went on about dogs being dumped in rescues to die. Not everyone who gives up a dog to rescue or for rehoming does so without a second thought many can see no alternative. It also implies all dogs in rescue/shelter die which is total nonsense. I agree some dogs won't have a great chance of being rehomed while others will be snapped up.

To be honest I don't give a flying fig for such attitudes, I don't care if something thinks because I buy responsibly bred pure bred dogs, it's killing a poor rescue dog, it's a warped thinking in my book.

I have no issue with those who want to buy from a rescue,, it's up to you to buy from where you want,

Have to agree - well bred dogs are not the problem, it's the irresponsible owners, irresponsible breeders and irresponsible 'free-ad' type sites that make back yard breeding and puppy farming so easy

I have had rescue dogs also brought puppies from a good breeder, it was my own choice & it was what I wanted at that time.
