I have bought a new dog walking bag has I got tired of re-placing the pockets in my coats/jeans, as my old dog belt was not big enough to carry all my bits & bobs in. In my new dog walking bag there are : 4 slip leads - in case harness/lead snap & to return other dogs back to their owners 3 packs of 100 dog poo bags - I like to have enough poo bags 1 bottle of hand sanitizer & 2 packs of wet wipes - just in case my hands touch anything nasty 2 whistles - its easier to use whistle then trying to get correct dogs name 2 torches 1 being a head torch - these are mainly for winter months 5 £1 coins - just in case I fancy a drink or ice cream from café pen & note pad - one never knows if one needs a pen & paper when out. Same as my new dog walking bag Does anyone else have a dog walking belt/bag
If im not wearing a jacket I use a bum bag, otherwise I just use my pockets ,afraid i travel light only take poo bags and sometimes mobile phone, they carry their own toy.
I do. Its a belt with a second strap that goes round your leg to stop if flapping around. It has poo bags and tini pack of wet wipes and treats and a thin slip lead (to thin for phoebe really but will do in an emergengy if i cant fashion something out of her own lead) in all time and i just top up when needed i then put my phone and keys in. We both have torches but we ware them around our necks as phoebe cant seam to see in the dark so loses me. Mine died a while ago and phoebe just stood in field crying till i got my phone on and waved it over my head. Shouting doesnt help.
The whistle goes round my neck, and if I'm not wearing a jacket or trousers with big pockets I just have a bum bag for poo bags and treats. I was thinking I might start taking a back pack so I can carry water for Chico. The big ones just scramble down the bank to the river to drink - I'm happy for Chico to do the same when it's calm (he's already had a bit of a swim) but he's so tiny that if there's a raging current I would worry about him being swept away!
I'm very naughty! Because its very hot Georgie's only going on short walks at the moment and everything we need apart from the keys and a few treats get left behind in the car or the house. And of course over here picking up poo and poo bags are unheard of! Taking her to training though is a completely different matter. and I have to make a mental check list so as not to forget something. Mattress, fresh water, towel to mop her drippy chops, treats for training, extra leads, baby wipes, Mum's walking shoes, anorak in case it rains, flask of coffee, handbag etc etc etc.... reminds me of when my son's were babies!
get him a little life jacket, you can clip the lead to it then he can swim. My dad has one for one of his yorkies who loves a dip in the river but isnt actually strong enough to swim against it. My step mum clips a flexi lead to his life jacket so she can whip him out if need be. He has them for all 3 for when he rents a canal boat and it clips to the rail running around the boat so they can run around it but cant actually fall over the side.
My son and DIL did that with my grandchildren when they were small and on a round the world trip on their yacht. I think they only had to fish my grandson out once after he'd fallen overboard in some ocean or other!
I annoy my men as I never take my mobile with me when walking the dogs, they told me I take everything else bar my mobile, I forgotten the dog balls are in me bag too but they are foam ones & squash down to nothing
you walk really early and late like me, you should take your phone as you never know when you might need it.
That might be a worthwhile investment when he's fully grown. Don't want to get one too soon as he will outgrow it and I'm assuming they're not cheap! Though I can see it would be worth it for peace of mind on a boating holiday!
I always walk in a group but yes should take me mobile with me, it just I hardly have me mobile with me, I only really take it with me when I am working & then its turned off.
Tina, you are so organised! My jackets are stained with greasy treats on the left, and bulging with everything else on the right. I spend every dog walk saying, 'I've lost ..........(whatever)', but the missing item is always there - it's just dropped to the bottom of the pile. The criteria for a new jacket is always, how many and how deep are the pockets?
My life Tina you think of everything! I end up looking like the Michelin man my pockets are bulging with bags etc lol
Sunday was a very hot day and after training as Georgie was huffing and puffing in the heat, bundled her into the car and did the hour's drive back home in super quick time. When we got home unloaded the car of all the stuff I have to take with me to training and closed the windows leaving the car on the driveway. Yesterday, wanted a map out of the car but when I open the door OMG what a horrible smell! In my haste to get Georgie cooled down on Sunday I'd forgotten to take the treat bag out of the car and the chopped, cooked chicken gizzards in the bag had gone rotten! The interior of the car stank to high heaven! Silly woman! I've now made a mental note ... DO NOT LEAVE TREATS IN A HOT CAR!!!!!!
Not much chance of that Janet, as we don't have the same law about picking up poo over here. Your dog can poo wherever it feels like and you're not obliged to clear it up.
