My boy is failing and I'm beside myself Discussions

Hello all,

Copper has begun to decline steadily since Saturday. We have put him on Dasuquin with MSM at night when the pain seems the worst and by morning he is better. Last night he had a scary episode of not being able to get up. Once he managed to stand, it was like his back legs were lame. He couldn't stand to eat or drink. He even fell over a few times. For a few weeks, he has been standing with his hind legs bent and I didn't think anything of it because he was still acting fine.

He has a vet appointment on Monday (as this is the soonest they could get him in) and I have a ton of questions for them. Thanks for reading.

Oh Jessica - is there no emergency vet you can contact? Monday seems such a long time away when your bubba is sick, but we are here with you and your boy - just remember that.

Yes. There is an emergency vet. My husband is of the mind to let the meds take their course but I am worried. I know what Copper is going through is NOT normal. I do think it is more than arthritis. I am a bit peeved at our vet because they take lunch from 12 pm to 2 pm everyday so they couldn't get Copper in for a 1:30 pm appointment even if it were open...

He is seeming much better today though he still has moments of lameness. Believe me, if he repeats last night's performance tonight he will be rushed to the emergency vet...Dasuquin or not.

If you are worried it is for a reason. You know your boy and if he is trying to tell you something please listen to him. Trust your instincts. I seem to be having a go at vets at the moment but that is probably because I am so very lucky in mine.

Hi @My bear Yoji. He seems to be doing better than last night but he is declining as the day goes on. I'm hoping he doesn't get as bad as last night. Thanks for your concern.

Thank you all! I fed him a special treat of some chicken tonight and it wasn't even meal time!! He deserves it. He has always been such a good boy and has only ever given my family his devotion.

Give him what he wants. He definitely deserves it. And cuddles from me please? xx
