Just 20 minutes exercise a day can have a profound effect on your health http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-30826550
I have to confess the two G's haven't been for a walk for the past 3 days because the all the paths are like skating rinks and treacherous to walk on even without two dogs on leads. I'm still getting plenty of exercise though just playing doorman to the pair of them. We've only been up for just over an hour and already I must have got up from what I'm doing at least a dozen times to open the door to let a dog in or out!
I not taken mine out today as it was bit slippery underfoot first thing this morning, they been playing in garden & my men will take them out around 4ish to the secure field to have a run about.
Gwylim has decided to make me watch my weight .... I was halfway through a sandwich at lunchtime when I heard Erika arrive so put it on the coffee table and went to talk to her. Went back into the living room to finish my sandwich and all I could find were a few crumbs on the carpet and smear of cream cheese on on the little black devil's mush!
It was the cat that ate the sandwich, poor Gwylim was just lets see ............... I know just making sure cheese was ok to eat
I've had a warm spot in my heart for everything Hungarian because my wife and I were blessed by having a Puli with us for sixteen years. What a wonderful, interesting dog Bogie was. He would never eat too much, so we had a dispenser for his food and, when we would be having a snack at the kitchen table, Bogie would go to his food dispenser and get a mouthful of kibble which he would carry to the table, jump up in the spare chair and put his food down so as to enjoy snacking with us. His herding instinct was very strong so, besides trying to herd us, he would select several of his many toys and carefully place them in a row for all to see. He was never sick in all his sixteen years and, at the end, he simply lay down on the floor and quietly passed away. We are so thankful for having the many days in the life of this precious creature to fill our memories.
What a really sweet tribute to Bogie. He sounds as if he was a real character. Our dogs are such individuals, and add so many light hearted moments to our lives. Quite apart from any exercise benefits, they are just such fun to be with.
After my walk today im not so sure about the health benefits ,battling the wind whilst walking uphill, eyes were streaming, like I was eating onions, nose running like a tap, and my legs feel like ive just done a 50 mile marathon, hearts racing like a formula one car, time for a cuppa
I have just spent an hour going round my little bungalow looking for my mobile phone. Does that count as exercise?
I would not care but I rang it on one of my cordless telephones and went all round the bungalow listening for it - I was getting the ring wotsit so obviously the mobile was not switched off as it usually is. And I could not hear it anywhere. What had happened was that I had telephoned Avner for something the macolet does not stock and he can get for me - left a message on his voicemail as he did not answer, so kept my mobile switched on [it is usually switched off except when I need to use it] - gone over to the macolet for some stuff so it was switched on... ...and come home with it in a pocket of my gilet. When I went to take it out of the pocket, switch it off and put it where it normally lives, it was not in my pocket. One hour of plonking round my bungalow, over and over again - I even looked in the tumble dryer. And then I went outside and re-traced my steps, or rather my wheels, to see if it had fallen out of my pocket... Now if that was not exercise I would like to know what is!
