Me and Coco met our first Estrela .. A big dark fella who showed no interest in us what so ever lol In fact we were snubbed ,he acted like we were not there ... His owner says he will either give you attention or ignore you .. The owner said i was the only person ever to guess the breed ;-) Dogsey breed games come in handy after all ..lol
Lol Have no idea how Cato will react to strangers as he matures, he's quite happy to greet people now but he's very calm /polite about it, however, he's easily persuaded to ignore them. Infact, he'll ignore people in general unless they display an interest in him, at which point we get the polite greeting thing.
He'll do that with other dogs if I've got a treat, they can sniff him all they like, if the human has a treat, the dog can get stuffed as far as he's concerned, with very few exceptions. Eta He does the polite greeting thing with dogs too. People don't believe he's only 5 months old. It's a little odd for me too, being used to lab puppies and their enthusiasm levels.
No, sorry don't know him. Ignoring is an Estrela trait. My lot do that and pretend they haven't seen people. Even Womble does it when people say hello to her because she's cute and fluffy - she just blanks them and walks by, which is wonderful IMO. I've had an over friendly dog before who was a total pain so aloof dogs are nice in contrast.
Spooky! There's a lot of gossip in numerically small breeds so I'm not surprised. Unlike some other breeders I don't keep my plans a secret and my pup's pics were all over a certain social networking site - they were possibly the most photographed EMD litter ever! I have a feeling the owner is a friend of someone else I know, but I don't think they are members of the breed club so I haven't met them at any events etc. Trooper is a great name though
