Thank you Chris and of course I was not winding you up! "Shana" means Year, and "Tova" means Good. And we say Shana Tova meaning Happy New Year, the same as we say Shabbat Shalom, which literally means Sabbath Peace. Or Chag Sameach on Holy/Holidays whereas it literally means Holiday Happy. As long as we know and understand, that is all that is important. The apple and honey that I mentioned to Marc, which I am sure he already knew, is to hope for a sweet and happy year.
