    Looking for a pup

Hi..I'm new here and have a question. We are dog lovers, always had big dogs, rescued greyhouds, too. We are looking for a wolfhound breeder and are having a very hard time getting anyone to even respond to us. Any advice or suggestions? We really want a pup!

Have you tried looking on the Kennel Club site for an Assured Breeder?
Or, contacting the Irish Wolfhound breed club? Good Luck in your search.

Rescue is good but as per Opheila's post do through official IWHR. They are are breed that many may wish to re home for reasons that can either cost you fortune, health cost pressure or pure disaster. IWHR are reliable but will vey you.

They're not a long lived breed and have health issues so think about whether you want a pup or a dog that somebody has chosen to re home.

Sourcing an IWH pup is tough and can take a bit of time, travel and dare I say it, expenditure.

In my experience as you speak to different people and different breeders you'll find people have very different opinions of different kennels and lines.

Speak to breeders (don't ignore those with no litters) and discuss.

I know that doesn't really help but take your time, do your research and don't rush into anything.

^Great advice. Research is often a skipped phase that can have bad consequences at times.

    Sorry about my previous spelling.

Typed fast on my ipad and then realised the edit facility had expired.

I'm happy to discuss with you and give you some some contacts to 'speak to' who care about the breed and will be happy to keep you right in terms of how you move forward.
