    Labrador husky anyone?

Not sure if this is in the right place, feel free to move it if it's not.

Its suposed to be an actual breed. Anyone else heard of them.

    I can't believe it is a breed

Are you referring to Northern Breed dogs from the labrador region?

There are a few different types of dogs (not recognised breeds) from North America

    Mckenzie River Dog
    Alaskan Husky
Inuit dog (nothing to do NI or UTE)
    Sepala Huskies

Then there are recognised breeds Greenland Dogs, Canadian Eskimo Dogs and Malamutes from North America as well

I have never heard of a Northern Breed specific to Labrador though, going to have a nose now my curiosity is piqued

Would that be the sled dog from Labrador (Canada) as opposed to a cross between a Lab and a Husky? If so, I don't think they are recognised by any kennel club, not even the Canadian one.

    ok found this

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labrador_Husky

Article says it is a purebreed but not recognised by any breed clubs :?

Also states it is different to all other Northern breeds in that it is potentially people aggressive

I wouldve thought it was a husky unique to the Labrador region of Canada.

Heres where I found it originally. I honistly though it was going to be some random looking designer cross.
I was suprised to find out it wasn't, in a good way.

Nice to see some one else agrees with me. I wonder if there're any in the UK.

would be surprised if there were, there are very few breeders of Canadian Eskimo Dogs in this country (only 1 I know of) and they seem to be very similar dogs

Dam, they sound like an interesting dog to own. Quite a challenge I'd imagine.

sure would be, can't see much difference between them and the CED / greenland dogs to be honest, .

Gary Rolph uses similar dogs in his arctic exploration

    http://www.garyrolfe.com/garysdogs/index.htm

This is the guy who hit the news when all bar one of his team died when he went through the sea ice while in the arctic and had to be airlifted out.

He is a British Dog Musher based in Greenland

Sounds like he and that 1 dog were very lucky to get out of that. The dogs are gorgous.

They are slightly more common, we regularly race against a pair of greenlands, they are outstanding dogs but not for the faint hearted lol

I would love a Greenland or Eskimo bitch but Vikki says three is enough and Mals only

    Lol.
Just sneek one in, they'll never know lol.
I'd to love another dog, I'm working on the family... they just don't know it. Mals are on the list, I'm just starting to do some more indepth research.

Wow, Gary Rolfe and his dogs are amazing. You can just tell by how he writes about them that they are the be-all and end-all of his world.

Greenland Dogs have always been my preferance of the Northern Breeds but I am not cut out to own such a driven breed so I will continue to admire from afar :)
