Sounds like a lovely dog. Have you posted pictures? We like pictures! With regard to the highlighted bit, you will no doubt have a few folk turning up to tell you it is not a breed, it's a crossbreed or mongrel. These things tend to get heavily debated on Dogsey and a lot of people have a lot of opinions about deliberate cross-breeding. Personally the labradoodles I've met have all been lovely and poodle-coated but in a wide range of colours. I like them!
I think there may be one in my village, I drove past it one day, looked lovely and very energetic on the lead. I work with someone who has one, I have never met the dog but he has nothing but good things to say about it xxx
There is a Smooth coated one working HtM and as an assistance dog. She has a lovely nature but has taken a very long time to grow up an mature.
There's somebody who lives down the road from me who has a gorgeous big black one! Never met them though, we seem to keep missing eachother.. If I do see her I will definately ask for some info for you! Something I do know, her LOVES to get wet! Everytime I see it, it's dripping wet! Lol, rain, shine, snow, hail. I think the owner has no choice but to let it.. Lol I will keep my eye out for you
Your dog sounds lovely. If you want to know about the breed tho you need to research both the breeds in them and then expect a random mixture of all the behaviours of both the breeds
First off - I have to laugh as most dog owners will relate to this regardless of the breed. As for labradoodles - it's a funny old subject as what you will have...regardless of the 'name' is a 'one off'. Labradoodles are not really a breed so as much as I love those that I've met - there isn't really (advice wise) a reliable 'pool' you can tap into for traits or Physiche. You're post was light hearted and whilst you will get good 'dog' help and advice here - anything specific to Labradoodles should be taken with a pinch of salt.
They are quite popular here. I've noticed that size varies greatly. They tend to run from huge to tiny. The big ones I expected, the small ones threw me. For the most part, I have found them to be good natured, lovable dogs, if a bit thick, and rather slow to mature. We would love pics of your guy!
We occassionally meet one on our walks. He's a big, friendly, bouncy, shaggy bundle of fun. Get's on fantastic with my dogs
I have 2 Labradoodle (and a Mini Schnauzer), they are both different in temperament, build, coat looks and brains I got Lottie originally as I wanted something bigger than a Mini Schnauzer - and she definately is!! I also did not want a dog that needed professional grooming - so I must be one of the few people who deliberately chose a Labradoodle who moults. I was not a fan of the designer dogs - but I fell for her looks and temperament, also she is from health tested parents. I could not ask for a dog with a better temperament - but she should be blonde not black as she is a wee bit dim at times - if human She wouldbe Stacey off the X-Factor I got Ruby after one of my Mini Schnauzers died in the summer - I was looking at Standard Poodles but the cost of grooming put me off, and when a friend told me about a litter of 3/4 Poodle, 1/4 Lab I went to have a look and came back with one with the shortest coated one!! Ruby is poodlier to look at - but with an easy care coat. She is the same neight as Lottie but 2/3 her weight. She is intelligent and quick to learn - bad habits too. I would not pay a silly price for a Labradoodle - some are for sale at a higher price than both parent breeds. If you want to guarantee a non-moulting dog (and don't mind grooming bills) Standard Poodles are great dogs but high energy and very big. If someone was to breed them at 18-20 inches I would definately get a Standard Poodle next time - but as a breed they appear to be getting bigger. This is Ruby (brown), Lottie and Mini Schnauzer Leo
Our labradoodle Barney, 3, is ace Not an ounce of aggression in him, very playful and submissive, although he is learning to stand up for himself a bit more every year... He's still very much a pup Very trainable and intelligent. Obsessed with retrieving. We get him clipped a little now, his coat used to get so knotted and messy! A new thing we discovered recently.................... He seems to 'freeze' in very cold weather!!(he's pure black with a bit of brown usually! .......................................
Awww, sounds cute Doodle dogs adore other pets and love to be where they've been because the smell comforts them. My Goldendoodle lies where my cat has been, and vice versa because it's comforting. I love doodle dogs as they're so gentle, loving, loyal, fun and would do anything to make you happy. The best breed of dog ever in my opinion. People who are mean about them don't understand what wonderful dogs they are. Doodles come in many shapes, sizes and colours - dependent on their parents' coats, size and colours. I wouldn't be without mine The thing that makes them happiest of all is the company of their owners. They look like big teddies, and my dog's coat is thick and soft, making him look even more teddy-like. Owning a doodle means many people come up to me to ask about him as he is so sweet. In short, doodles melt the hearts of virtually everyone they come across with their cuteness, gentleness and friendliness
My dog regularly plays with a gorgeous 'labradoodle'. She's two, and totally adorable, white in colour but with a golden patch running along her back. She has Labrador ears and her temperament is very Lab-like also. It is accurate to state that there is no such 'breed' as 'labradoodle'. That's not an insult at all, just a simple statement of fact. Just as it's fact to say that if I crossed an Afghan Hound with a Lab, that too would not be a 'breed'. There are a lot of 'labradoodles' at our local park - it's interesting as no two look alike! They are all very friendly though
Our girls play with a Labradoodle and a Goldendoodle often and they are adorable apart from the Goldendoodle is rather hyper and they are both 4ish but she is much calmer than him. I like the fact they are so different and having been against them before, having got to know these 2 I am changing my veiws a bit. A pair of bouncy teddies
