Jack Russell VS. Parson Russell Terrier

Im a bit confused as to the difference in them. I always knew them as Jack Russells and then the Parson thing came in I guess I read in 2001. Why and whats the difference???

There are other posts about this somewhere on here...but to try and explain, the Parson Russell is the original, they were bred by a reverend (sp?) called Jack Russell hence the parson. They were bred as hunting dogs and were/are also used as rat catchers (however no way could i see Toby doing this:roll:, I have posted a pic on here of him gingerly passing by a rabbit! ).
Gradually over the years people must of purposely bred from shorter legged parsons resulting in the short legged jack russells, mainly so they could fit into rabbit holes ect (I'm not a hunting peson so don't know the correct terminology).
So know there's the two separate types, not that it matters to me but PRT's are KC registered and Jacks are not. I did not know a great deal about PRT's till we got Toby, we got hiom after our previous dog penny died, (she was a jack russell/fox terrier x and we wanted a dog like her, as you do:roll: ).
Anyway hope that explains a bit, I'm sure there are more knowlegeble terrier people on here, but that it they way i understand it.
