My puppy ( kona ) is approximately 3.5 months and only weighs 27 lbs. When we got her a month ago she was 18 and had worms, flees and a uti. The people that we got her from did not take care of her. She seems small for the breed. Any thoughts? Ty
The size guides are very misleading. Dogs are individual just like we are. I'm small - 5'2" - but both my mum and dad were taller as are my brothers and sisters. I've ruled out the milkman so I must just be a throwback
Kona is very sweet - the following site does say that according to its size, the weight of a female at 3 months should be between 31.5 and 40.9 lbs so Kona is a bit small, but it sounds like she did not have a perfect start in life which would explain that. It also has a chart which shows average weights which might help you - Kona seems to be on the low average side at the moment but as long as she is healthy now and is gaining weight, I would not worry. Average is only average after all, which means some are smaller and lighter in weight, and some are larger and heavier in weight. https://en.belpatt.fr/puppy-weight-chart/Anatolian-Shepherd-Dog?u=lbs
