Do you meet many inconsiderate dog owners (or those that can't take a hint) while on your walks? Was out walking with the neighbour and her dog the other day, and came across a new dog with his owner and we said we can't stop and talk or introduce the dogs as my neighbours dog is still recovering - but did the other owner listen? No, he decided it would be nice for the two dogs to have a sniff/meet Luckily neither dog reacted, but it could have put my neighbours dog back a good few weeks if anything happened. Some people
Not really, no. I think it depends on what you consider inconsiderate and/or irresponsible though. I don't find off lead dogs approaching mine ( even with my aggressive Missy ) particularly bothersome. It's just part and parcel of owning dogs to me. I've been frustrated before, and you always find that one person who refuses to listen to you, but I'm lucky that around here everyone knows me and vice versa so we know which dogs to avoid, which dogs are fine to interact, and in most cases no one bats an eyelid when your dogs run down the track to greet each other. However, I do have one neighbour I'd consider irresponsible. He owns a JRT that he NEVER puts on lead. So it runs around our road off lead and charges straight into the field behind us while his owner is still barely out of his door. This dog is quite pushy, so he'll approach barking and stiff as a board, then he'll greet my Tyler, be fine for a few seconds and then continue his barking and attitude. He has got right in Missy's face too, and I guess that does annoy me somewhat more then your regular dog walker, because my neighbour knows more then most that Missy isn't friendly with other dogs. But, there you go. Overall, I'm very lucky that I don't run into more inconsiderate dog owners.
Luckily no, because mostly the only time people actually take dogs out is on a Sabbath afternoon when I cannot take Pereg as I cannot use my wheels on the Sabbath. So when I am out with her during the week the only dogs we see are the ones roaming loose, and she ignores them completely as she is too intent on having a good run!
I sometime come across the "Royal Family" when out but if I see them first I take a detour, otherwise I am there for ages while Mrs Royal tells me everyone's busy. I call them The Royal Family as they own Corgis & Labradors just like the Queen does.
I am surrounded by owners who have poorly taken care of their dogs. As a result, their dogs are very aggressive. These owners think it's a good idea to let their dogs roam around without leashes... fights happen. I take my dog out after I see their dogs return inside, and we go to the dog park daily to ensure Niko stays entertained
Where I live now, all the dogs and owners are lovely. All considerate to each other. When I used to exercise in Tatton Park, all the regulars were considerate, but there were a lot of visitors having a day out, and the behaviour of dogs (and owners) was sometimes atrocious. Dogs chasing sheep with the owners completely unconcerned (and I've even seen idiot people chasing the sheep and barking!) I shall never forget one couple with a dog that was causing absolute mayhem - chasing sheep, bouncing over timid dogs and trying to make them play, bothering grumpy dogs, getting on to the golf course, and causing cars to brake (there is a road running through the park). I kept well away from them, but could hear the commotion and shouting. Finally, on my way home, I saw them leave. Thank goodness, I thought. A few minutes later I saw them driving the wrong way down a one-way street. I wonder if all their days out were like that!
Sadly quite a few and they usually dont end well because of phoebes behaviour but not sure what i can do i dont have her off lead and walk in wee hours of morning and the dead of night. At the agricultural shows i see lots of clueless owners aswell as some that just shouldnt have a dog
The thing that infuriates me most of all is when Georgina and I go to the vet and someone walks in with a dog WITHOUT a lead! Its happened several times just recently and I honestly can't figure out what goes on in the owner's mind. Apart from a few dogs who are there for routine vaccinations or check ups, the majority of dogs are at the vets because they're sick or injured and as a result are under stress. I thought common sense would tell you that a dog under stress may be unpredictable but apparently it doesn't for some people. At present Georgie is in season and she is anti male dogs, so I leave her in the car until its our turn to see the vet and I make sure I'm between her and any other dog when I usher her and out!
Very rarely, but i've learnt over the years to accept there will always be some owners around who just don't 'think' and can't see why there dogs may be a nuisance .or dangerous .
All the time. Terriers jetting about the park snarling at my dogs. Pit bulls just running from their yards and attacking or cornering my dogs. tons of aggression problems. Big mess. Endeavor to avoid and keep it moving right along. If I'm unable to do so, simply wish to the stars that nothing happens. Keep pepper spray, switchblade, and a fire poker with me at all times
The thing that annoys me with other dog owners is their off lead dog running up to my on lead dog and according to the owners it's my fault their dog has growled or been aggressive towards my dog because it's on lead (only few places I can let my dog off lead because of his prey drive towards birds) So much for them teaching their dog good recall!
