    I'm cruel and stupid.

Apparently, as I take my dogs on long walks, and their only meant to have short walks, their not designed for it.

I've had this a few times, and yes its nice that people are realising that dogs like these aren't all hyper excitable dogs, that need to be walked from morning to night, but mine have had a good fitness from a young age, and good endurance aswell, as they were not being trained for short sprints, they love their long walks, and so do I, and yes although their may be dogs who can't cope with the walks, mine do very well, and yeah they may just lay down and go to sleep when they get in sometimes, but for one thing, their hounds, and another, is it a bad thing? I mean sleeping for half an hour or so after a long walk, their never on the point of collapsing when out, and if I move their leads when their asleep, well they could give a champion Greyhound a race for the money ;) I've had this again though recently, and its just annoying me.

Oh and another thing I had, was that they would put on weight if I didn't walk them so much, well of course they would, wouldn't be good weight though would it, but the person was determined that I walk them so much that I am causing them harm...

Surely if you WERE walking them too much, 1. they wouldn't walk and would just point blank refuse to move, and 2. they would be in awful health (which I remember seeing your pic is NOT the case!!).

Just ignore eegits. Some people think they know more about your own dogs than you do!

Your dogs are beautiful, healthy looking and happy. Take pride in them and ignore the twonks out there :D

Your dogs are fine. Believe me, I have a big mouth on a good day and when Mel, you and I all met up a while ago if I thought there was anything wrong I would have said so.

Tghere's nothing wrong with them. They love their walks. If they didn't, as you said, they wouldn't move when you picked up their leads.

Therer are so many people about who think they know everything and everything who in fact know very little about anything. Don't let their silly comments get to you.

This person obviously thinks they know a lot about sighthounds! What they don't know is that they can build up stamina to be able to do longer walks...and they enjoy them like any other dog! Yours look really fit and well....ignore the silly idiot!;-)

Your dogs aren't retired Greyhound...you've also had them from a puppy. Two massive differences between your dogs and mine. Axel has had to build up slowly his stamina and length of walks, yours did that as puppies....what's their problem? I've seen them on a massive walk and while Axel was flagging, yours didn't.
Also, I know of several Greyhounds who were rescued as puppies and never had the life Axel did - they have the stamina of any normal dog, maybe even more!
They're spouting rubbish, ignore them! :)

Ours walked 44 miles in a week when we went to Berwick a while ago. Three of the walks were 9 miles along beaches and they coped fine. Had a nice sleep when we got back to the cottage but were up for a walk the next day.

Sighthounds might only run for short distances but they can cope with long walks.
