I had such an amazing day yesterday, seeing friends that live down South that I don't get to see that often, but one of my highlights of the day was meeting the gundog breeds I've never met before! There was a tent with 1/2 dogs of each breed in, so people could go and meet them and I went and met as many as I could! These include; English Setter, Flatcoat, various spaniels; clumbers. Welshes and field spaniels! There were loads of others but I can't think for the life of me what they are!! I will have a google tonight and see if I can remeber what they are!! They were all wonderful dogs, I can see why those that own the various breeds own them!!
I love gundogs. They`re proper dogs! Always up for a game and not having conniptions about getting muddy.
I didn't get any piccies OH had the camera! It was lovely to meet them in the flesh, I've seen peoples pictures that they post on here, so its nice now I've met the different breeds! I loved seeing something different, as I see labs and springers everyday! And that's all I normally see out on shoots as well! Gundogs are the only group of dog for me! It's all I'll ever own I think!
I have done the gundog tent at CLA Game Fair it is always interesting seeing the reactions of people who have not met some breeds before!
out of the gundog group I like the weims and the GSP's The flatcoats always catch my eye but I dont think I would have one. (the others I would, alongside a dobe of course )
I'm not sure, I really liked the flatcoat and the clumber, didn't get to spend a lot of time with each breed, but from what I saw it's those 2! It was really nice to actually see them, as opposed to seeing pictures! I would have liked to have spent more time in the gundog tent and with each breed, but it was so packed in there, I kind of got swept along with the crowd! My friend has a GSP, I love her, I think I could possibly own one in the future, maybe when Misty has slowed down a bit, only because I've never owned one, so don't think I'd cope with a breed I've not had alongside my wildthing!
I've only been to the CLA once and loved it. Too far and too expensive for us now. Were the setters working setters? Helen
Go to the CLA Game Fare every year and have never missed going in the gundog tent, as someone said ' they are real dogs' no offence to any other breed but I just love bigger dogs. Shame it is so far away for me next year, Belvoir Castle - Grantham I live in the South. Grrrrrrr
