    I apologize....

.......if I disappear for a while. The computer is playing up big-time - keeps switching itself off and sometimes it's difficult to get back online.

Last time our computer guy was here he warned us that it's coming to the end of its useful life, so it looks as I shall have to start counting the pennies in my piggy bank to find the money for a new one.

So, if I don't respond to any posts, I'm not ignoring you - I just haven't seen them!

Know the feeling. I can only keep my pc on for half an hour as it is overheating and the noise it is making is awful!

Hope you get yours sorted out soon.

    Take care :)

    Apology accepted Janet. :023:

Mine died on me in May and because over here you can only buy laptops with Hungarian keyboards I had to have one sent out from the UK. £500 and 2 months later I'm still struggling to use it .....

Thanks Rosemary and Barbara. I can sympathize with struggling to use a new laptop - I'm so used to this old computer that when we bite the bullet and get a new one I'll find it difficult to get the hang of it. You can NOT teach this old dog new tricks!

However, it seems OK at the moment - so don't talk about me behind my back, because I may well still be around!

Hello Janet - can you see me? [Malka jumps up and down waving - as if she could!]

I panic BIG time if my PC does a whoopsie but Effie, my computer guy, always leaves me a loan computer if he has to take mine away for a sort-out.

At the moment I am loosing power and internet intermittently because the main power wotsit has been hit so they are fixing things as and when they can.

I would be lost without my computer to keep in contact with the outside world.

I HATE computer replacement time! All that faffing about trying to save precious photo's and documents, and having to learn a new OS at the same time. I wouldn't mind but, except for the internet, I'm sure this pc doesn't actually DO anything that my first 40 gig, Windows 3 couldn't do. So good luck Janet - I hope major surgery is not required - but save your files while you can, just in case!

I would look at it as an opportunity to get a Mac - they are much easier to use and generally more reliable :D

And I thought I could spell? I mean using "loosing" instead of "losing" - Malka smacks herself on the hand and goes to sit on the norty step.

I do not know about Macs Azz - I like what I have because I understand it and it usually behaves - unless I booger it up. Which I am currently doing with Firefox due to having too many windows with too many tabs open but that is my fault and Firefox is very good in sorting it out when it crashes.

I do not think I could cope with a different OS now. I even changed the latest Firefox back so it looks the same as the previous one [but it is still the latest version]. Maybe it is an age thing but as I am very old I prefer to stick with tried and tested.
