My sister in law called me asking for my help with her 13 year old daughter, my sister in law told me her daughter my 13 year old niece, as fallen in with the wrong crowd of friends at school & they are going into town shop lifting after school & mouthing off when caught. So at 2:45pm I am standing at the gates of her school wearing one yellow wellie & one red wellie, blue coat green hat, one pink mitten & one brown glove, I see my niece coming down the steps & start waving my hands & yelling her name very loudly. My niece comes storming over to me giving me lots of mouth, (had taken my hearing aids out so I couldn't hear what she was saying) I then shouted I come to chaperone you girls into town, as it seems you go shop lifting when you go into town without a sensible adult, (by now lots of kids were watching & several teachers had appeared) I grabbed my niece's hand & the look of horror on her so called friends faces was priceless. When my niece's so called friends realized I wasn't joking about going town with them they all disappeared & went in separate directions, on the way home with my niece I told her if she ever goes shop lifting again then I will be picking her up from school every day until she leaves school. Needless to say that my niece wasn't happy & my brother and sister in law both bursting out laughing when they saw me holding their daughter's hand & what I was wearing didn't help either. Somehow I don't think my niece will be shop lifting again & I don't think her new friends like me, because they phoned my niece & told her they don't want her hanging around with them anymore, but my niece's old set of friends are still willing to be her friend again.
I think I 'ave just 'adda 'naccident in my nikkies trying to imagine that... Seriously though Tina, WELL DONE
You have to fight fire with fire & my niece well only way I could think of was dress brightly & walk with her & her so called friends. Think they got message that I am super sensible adult
