How to introduce a puppy to my dog?

i have a Sharpei named Capuchino and he is 11 months old, he has been with me since we has a puppy. He stays by himself while im at work and decided to get him a companion. I bought a new shar pei female puppy. He doesnt seem to like her and he has been growling at her and im just afraid he is going to hurt her. What can i do to introduce them so they can get along?

Hello Loko and welcome to the forum. I also have a Shar-Pei, Georgina who's 19 months old. She's an Isabella Dilute so much lighter in colour than Capuchino who's the same colour as my previous Pei.

Can you give us more information about Capuchino and the new puppy because as I'm sure you've found out no two Pei are alike, and what works for one, won't work for another which makes giving advice rather difficult.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Has he had much socialisation and is he ok with other dogs coming in to your house? If not introductions will need to be slow.

Generally people say start off with giving them separate rooms with doors closed so they can get used to each other's smell. Then use gates and have doors open, then on lead introductions :)
