I go to the gym 5 days a week, swim 1 day and have a complete rest day where I don't do much except walk the dogs
I keep fit by walking the dogs for hours each day, running on the treadmill and rowing on the rowing machine, as for healthy well I'm no longer sure I am, after having 2 strokes I'm currently under 4 different departments at the hospital while they try to figure out why as I have none of the usual indicators, I've been tested for everything and we still have no answers. Luckily the strokes haven't left me with any disabilities at all but I'd like to avoid another.
You both sounds fit compared to me. I pretty much just go to the sauna and that's it Sorry to hear about your strokes Shirley, I hope they can get to the bottom of it - it is a nightmare not knowing what's wrong
Walking the dogs for hours on hill ground each day keeps me fit. I did start running with Yogi and Zak, and we were all enjoying it, but then my knee started to give me some pain (years of hill walking catching up with me I think) and so had to give it up. I am quite tempted to drag out the old mountain bike in spring and start cycling over the hill tracks with the dogs running, but we will see.
Walk every day with the dogs of course. I run (not very far, not very fast) most days, and go for a bike ride if the weather is nice. I lift dumbbells three times a week (absolutely the best thing for changing body shape) and if I'm feeling in a jolly or silly mood I put on some lively music and bounce on my rebounder. I used to go to Zumba but the class stopped. I have just today signed up for a new Pilates class. I have done it in the past and find it really boring, but I need it. I'm OK with cardio and I'm OK with strength, but I am very inflexible. So, Pilates it has to be.
Walking. i do just over an hour a day with phoebe plus about 3 hours a day on the 3 days i work at kennels so thats cardio sorted. as for weights i help my dad with his mobile catering business so spent 2 days a week shifting cases of pop, gas bottles and generators around. thats enough for me
I've been really remiss on the fitness side lately. I haven't played squash in ages but I am walking Loki, playing with the kids and doing a bit at home and some swimming, cycling and skipping at home. It's not enough - I love my exercise so I am going to make a bigger effort, starting tomorrow! Da-daaah!
I just started going to the gym. I used to keep fit by execising the Lab/bc mix I had but with the little ones the weather can get to cold to walk them for long. Well for Bailie and Destiny. Leo loves the cold, snow and rain and it´s hard to keep him out of the yard in bad weather.
I pretend that I do all the things that I would like to do... ...and conveniently forget what I cannot do!
I always thought that one of benefits of getting older and being disabled (in my case only temporarily) would be that OTHERS would volunteer to do some of things one can no longer do. How wrong I was as I found out last April on the day I arrived at my son's home after a week in hospital! I'd no sooner hobbled in on my crutches than my grandson asked if I'd make him some sausage rolls followed a few minutes later by a request for muffins from my grandaughter . Isn't it nice to be popular?? I stayed with them for three months during which time I did most of the cooking for a family of five. Looking back, being busy did me good as it took my mind off the things I couldn't do like driving a car and walking the dogs. It was nice though to get back to my own home and be thoroughly lazy again!
Nah it does not work that way. The way it works is if anyone sees that you can actually do something yourself [wiping butt comes to mind] they immediately think that you can do everything so you might as well do it all for them as well.
