Got 10 dogs but... Which breed for me?

Heya,
I have 10 dogs but I am looking for a breed for my friend.

She lives in a house, she is Single, she has NO children, a rabbit and loves indoors (sometimes outdoors!), wouldn't like too much grooming but wouldn't mind some!

I think you need to be a bit more specific about her situation. Is she a first time dog owner? does she work? if so, how will the puppy/dog fit around her work schedule? what preference does she have for size? how much time is she willing to dedicate to training and exercise? what kind of personality would she prefer in a dog (a more chilled dog, one with tons of energy, etc.)?

I`d give her one of the pups you`re breeding.

in all seriousness your friend likes going out sometimes? Well he/she would have to go out at least once a day to walk a dog..but then you'd know that & then everything that Labradork said too

No, she would like a pet just to keep her comapny and keep her on her toes!

Does she want a puppy or adult dog?

Preferably puppy, but she doesn't mind either.

Golden Retriever may be a good fit? they tend to make pretty good first time dogs. They may be slightly boisterous as puppies but generally are pretty chilled as adults. They shed a lot so she will have to brush regularly, but their coats are not high maintenance. A Golden raised with a rabbit shouldn't be a problem in theory (although this will depend on the individual). They are usually adaptable on exercise and will go with the flow. They are (or should be!) very biddable.

I know several first time Golden owners with working type Goldens and even more with show type Goldens. I much prefer the working type, but a show type would generally be suited if the owner requires a more chilled out dog (that being said, one of the working ones I know is one of the most lazy dogs imaginable -- at 3 years old ).

Bear in mind that if she would like a puppy, she'll have to have someone either look after the puppy while she is at work, or have someone pop in several times for toilet trips and company. If this is not possible, an adult dog would obviously be a much better fit.

I'd recommend your friend head down to the nearest rescue centre and see what they have in. There will be something that fits the bill.

Yes! And while she's at it maybe go along and see if any of the huskys or their crosses tug at your heart strings and change your mind about breeding and studding your own dogs ;-)

If your friend would like a dog, why not let her foster one of yours for a week or two to see if she really DOES want a dog or just likes the "idea" of one!

Ah thank you, I will put that across to her! She was thinkin of one of them last year but never got one!
