No contest German whether GSP, GWP or GLP but of course especially if they are Weimaraners! They can multi task and are good all rounders.
German all the way. I dont actually like the conformation or gait of English pointers, they always look a bit clumsy and hunched and of course they are not nearly as versatile as German pointers. IMO, the Germans created some excellent breeds and certainly knew what they wanted in a dog.
Ok, you are getting me confused now Aimee! Is the question which is your favourite HPR (in which case English pointers are out off the list)? I'll answer anyway...GWP followed by a Brittany.
I have to agree with you on the English bit - I've always found them to look a little - I don't know what word I need to finish it without offending any one... ugh words! I love GWPs though - its a definite on the future dogs list!
Well I don't know - last time I asked about pointers - I got told there was HPR's and Pointers - I'm confused! The dogs who point their tails at prey - thats easier
So, are we including setters then if we are thinking about dogs who point their tails at prey? Actually, they point their noses, otherwise they'd be back to front and looking the wrong way!! Sorry, being finickity now!
I don't know - I'm so confused - I should bury my head in a gundog book until I properly informed with everything! Tails - I said Tails - setters point their nose so they don't count!
They all point their noses!! The tails just tend to stick straight out in a rigid manner but they dont point with their tails!
Well if you're attempting to make me look a fool - it's working Favourite Pointer! Thats the original question lol..
I was walking down the road with 3 dogs once and a car drew up. A German guy leaned out and shouted `Do Zey Speak English?` I stared after him - then realised I had a German Shepherd, a German Shorthaired Pointer and a German Schnauzer (a friends dog). Say what you like - the Germans make dam fine dogs.
German or English Pointer - whichever German pointer that may be.. Why didn't the English make more variations of the pointers? I agree.. Although you can't beat my Canadian/English crossbreed...
