Anyone watched this? http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b03ybkz4/hd/Famous_Rich_and_Hungry_Episode_1/
I shall try and watch it later, they were discussing it on the wright stuff the other day and said the issue wasn't lack of income but level of debt( payday loans etc.) I missed it when it was on so thanx for the link.
I only caught half hour of it... might skip to the next episode tho as it was a little on the boring side
it was interesting to see just how out of touch most celebs are with real life, Theo having been in a similar position was the only one who really could grasp it .
I watched both episodes. It was 2 programmes in aid of Sports Relief, 4 people known to many were sent to live for a few days in the homes of people who didn't have enough food to eat. One thing came across very clearly to me, most of the ‘starving’ people were not in that position because the benefits they received were inadequate (one man was working and earned £18,000 a year ) ) but because they had got into debt some to loan sharks. It seems some people are incapable of prioritising their spending and saying to their children we don’t have what we can’t afford. I think this is a situation that really needs looking into. Maybe more help should be given to enable people to set up credit unions then payday loan companies and the like charging enormous rates of interest could be outlawed all together. With so much of benefits seemingly going on debt payment we who pay tax are all in a way subsidising loan sharks..
