Hello All, I have just arrived home from working in Bilbao,Spain and my hotel was near the city centre. With having a dog myself I always look when people take them for walks, but I was amazed about the amount of dogs that were there, people were walking not 1 but 2 and 3, all sizes and breeds, to me this seems strange to have dogs in the city centre when they live in apartments, I love dogs and do not criticise people,I live outside of my city centre and have lots of space. I have posted this for a discussion and do not mean to criticise anyone, looking forward to any replies. Cheers Dave
Feel in general it depends on the owner and the needs of the dog/dog breed. I could see more of a demand actually with a dog like your in JRT are a go go go go dog. Where as some think you need a ton of room for a dog like mine(English Mastiff), they actually do well in apartments but need walked at least twice a day. As long as the owner can meet the mental, and physical needs of the dog or dogs, I personally don't see a issue. Yes I am fully aware the world has no shortage of owners that do not do these things though.
As long as there are parks to exercise them, I would think it's fine. Loads of open spaces in London for example. I found that when we used to rent a country cottage for our holidays, it was far more difficult to find anywhere to let the dogs have a run than in the town where we lived, which had lots of big parks.
My pet hate about the countryside is the lack of walkable verges, or pavements. My Mum used to live in rural Scotland, and walking the dogs to safe areas was a nightmare - constantly looking over your shoulder to be ready to draw them to the roadside to avoid fast moving traffic.
