http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cornwall-33534181 This is the 3rd dog ive heard of being killed by seagulls here in Cornwall I really don’t get why they are protected as they are a bloody nuisance. We live in a bungalow and a couple of years ago a pair nested on our roof, little did we realise that we would be subjected to months of them bombarding and dive-bombing at us every time we opened the door or went into garden it was quite scary .
Poor little dog. Seagulls look lovely in the air, but quite menacing close up. Also, one of the few species where the juveniles are uglier than the parents.
A few years ago in Falmouth I was eating a sausage roll whilst waiting for my grandson to arrive off the Flushing ferry when a seagull swooped and snatched it off me, it was only then I noticed there are notices all over the town warning about the danger of being attacked.by seagulls. When Chloe was a tiny puppy, I always worried she'd be snatched out of the garden by one of the many raptors you find in the area as they circle around in the sky and swoop down on and carry off any small animal they spot. Very scary!
