This morning the dog catchers were around - they have been around fairly often lately because of the number of dumped dogs, including the speckled black one the size of a horse that has been complained about for the last few weeks. Forget the fact that the large fluffy dirty-white one that was dumped a couple of months ago, but it seems to be getting food from somewhere and is harmless. Yesterday there were about half a dozen new dumped dogs [they are always dumped just before Shabbat on a Friday] but this huge speckled black one has been around for a fee weeks and the dog catchers have "tried" to get it but did not, and it went for some children on the playground yesterday so someone called the dog catchers first thing this morning. As the playground is across the road from my home and yes, I did see it chase all the children although I do not think it hurt any of them, the dog catchers came to ask what I knew. As if I know who from town or wherever dumps their unwanted dogs here? Anyhow, from what they said they have not seen, let alone caught any stray dogs this morning [I have seen them - do they expect I should go out and catch them?] Problem. Tikva was on her tether, doing lovvie lovvie lovvie as she has a habit of doing to men, especially those who pet her, as these guys did - and then? They wanted to know why she was so thin and was I feeding her and had she ever been seen by a vet because she really is very thin and maybe ill... ...just so happened that I had her card next to my computer so smirked and handed it over. And pointed to the tags she wears on her collar. Oops. Ever seen two dog catchers turn bright red with embarrassment? Because not only is Tikva's card issued by Ram with all details of her shots, weight etc, it also has the barcode from her microchip on it - put on by Vadim when he chipped her - Vadim, their boss [the Local Authority vet] plus his signatures of her rabies shots. But that little pup is so skinny. She has hips, thighs, and shoulders muscles like she is on steroids, her coat gleams - she is rock solid as far as her weight [whatever it is] goes - but she is skinny. And she looks it. Thin. Her spine is clearly visible as are most of her rig cage, but so what? And when the dog catchers came to ask for my help regarding the dumped dogs, why start asking me about my puppy when the ones they catch, if they do, will have five days left of life. OK Tikki is thin, but her coat gleams, and with a vet check every three months [for the Parkworm shot] does anyone think she is not healthy? I know exactly why they had a go at me - apart from Tikva being so skinny - they saw me in an electric wheelchair and it was *boing* - she cannot look after that pup. Why do they not go check on the dogs that are not dumped, but "owned" by people here who just let them run free. And crunchie knows what they are fed on. And why do they not catch the dumped dogs. That large one is going to cause some serious damage to a child one day, which is why yet again people have complained. I know Tikva is thin, But I know Tikva is well fed and is healthy. Please do not forget that she has a full medical check-up every three months before she can have that dratted Parkworm shot - and that is just a precaution. Would Ram bother otherwise? And no, he does not do these things to earn money - he would do them for nothing if he thought I could not afford them. And she is far from underweight and she is healthy, and YES I AM capable of looking after her. Four years of looking after a severely epileptic dog and now I am virtually accused of starving and not being able to look after Tikva just because she is thin?
