Do people confuse your yellow lab with a golden retriever? Discussions

In my area there are lots of yellow Labs - but apart from mine, they are all totally white.

Maybe because of this, when I'm walking Dexter, I am always asked if he's a Golden Retriever!

Just wondering if any of you have darker yellow Labs - and if so, do people think your dog is a GR?

Though having said that, virtually all of the GRs in our area are also white!!

They are not all white here and I am never asked if my Dexter is a golden
Although on walks he is often black with mud!!

OH's lab, Hamish is fox red. When we do come across people, we normally get asked what he's crossed with, as a lot of people haven't seen a lab of his colouring! Can't post any pics, as on my phone and haven't got broadband at the moment!

Most GR nowadays arent even golden anymore! It's amazing how they've become so pale, almost white. Certainly with GR's, I much prefer the proper golden colour which seem to be most popular in working lines.

Agreed! I love GRs but must admit to preferring the ones that are either golden or fox-red, as opposed to the white ones we always seem to meet.

when my OH has his lab he was very very white, i preferred the darker ones, there was a gorgeous near fox red colour boy who i wanted, but as the dog was my OHs choice he picked the colour.
