Cotton Candy Health

I started feeling ill this afternoon when out & K9 was giving me the low sugar signal, I needed something sugary & fast so looking around I saw the £1 shop, I dashed over & went straight to the sweets section, could only see chocolate which was no good as that would give quick boost then my sugars would drop again, was just about to give up when I saw Cotton Candy, I grabbed 10 pots (I love cotton candy been years since I had any) started eating one pot before paying for them, it tasted heavenly & I could feel my sugars going up.
All it took was one pot to bring my sugars up & to stabilize them, best of all I didn't feel sick like I do when eating chocolate to bring my sugar levels up.
Was bit concerned about having cotton candy so rung the diabetic clinic & they said its ok to have yippeeeeee (good job as I got 9 more pots) but best of all I got until end of 2016 to eat it.

Well done K9 and I am so glad you were near a £1 shop. I am not sure what cotton candy is though - is it like the spun sugar that fairs used to sell?

Candyfloss - that was the name I was trying to think of! I did not know they sold it in tube though.

I didn't either they had small tubs in packs of 2 & large tubs, I grabbed the smaller tubs xxxx

Glad to hear your feeling better, it's best to carry a packet of glucose sweets with you just incase you get caught out.
My sons diabetic I know how dangerous it can be.

I believe some people call it fairy sugar or candy floss as well. One of my favorite indulgences as well. You only used to be able to get it at summer carnivals, now you can buy it year round yayyy!

Definitely important to keep the blood sugar stable though. When I work too many hours I'll start to get the dizzy shakies. I've been known to pour sugar straight from the coffee bar into my drink bottle. Better to be prepared at all times.

I'm severely hypoglycemic and have a service dog to alert me when my sugar starts to fall, so just about all the time I can avoid an emergency. I carry glucose tabs when I'm not home, but Pearl is always with me to let me know its dropping.

What a brilliant job the service dogs do.

Brilliant what trained dogs do...I could be laying there in seizures and Sophie would be nosing me to rub her tummy...dumb dog

K9 is my diabetic & epileptic medic alert dog, he's been trained to detect when I am going to have an seizure or low/high sugar levels, I do normally have a glucose kit with me but for some reason I forgotten to refill it before I went out.
But the cotton Candy did the job it soon bought my sugars back up x

My son'd been diabetic since he was 16 years old and he always carries Mars Bars around with him which no one else is allowed to touch!

I'm not so keen on Candyfloss but I do remember as a child we always had it when we went to Goose Fair and if it was very cold a bag of hot chestnuts to keep our fingers warm!

Goose fair me go every year but don't go on the big scary rides I go on the kiddies rides I drag my 6 - 8 year olds great nieces & nephews on with me, but they don't want to go on kiddies rides they want to go on the big scary rides.

We used to get a half day school holiday so we could go to Goose Fair. Two weeks later I'd also go with my cousins to the Ilkeston Wakes in the market square, which was nicer in some ways because it was smaller. I always loved autumn and the beginning of winter because that was the time the French "onion man" came round selling strings of onions and the gypsies set up camp in the nearby woods with their horses and brightly painted caravans. It's a shame we don't see them any longer ... kids of today miss out on so much!

Last year was the biggest I have seen the Goose Fair, must of been over 500 rides not counting the side stalls, there were 100 plus food vans (never ever eat food from food van) I take my own food safer not get food poisioning, my great nieces & nephews always moan, they say they hungry I bring sandwich out of bag for them, plus am very mean I don't like paying £3 for tray of chips £4 for burger & £3.50 for hotdog.

@6JRT's K-9 must do the same wonderful job for you that Pearl does for me. Pearl is a now 4 pound Chihuahua, she's getting chubby, she licks my lips to check my sugar and then goes to the corner of the coffee table, gets a little bag of glucose tabs or candy and paws at me until I take them. She detects so early that I could easily get them myself but it took a lot of time for me to train her so I don't want to mess up her training.
